Vampire Lord:
Each time this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent declare 1 card
type (Monster, Spell, or Trap). Your opponent selects 1 card of that type
from his/her Deck and sends it to the Graveyard. Also, when this card is
destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by you opponent's card effect, it is
Special Summoned to the field during your next Standby Phase
So it seems pretty good at first and I hate to tell you, you're right it is
a really good card and for more than the effect the whole disruption your
opponent's deck, coming back when destroyed by a monsters effect or any
effect for that matter.
Well now to start out by saying Dark Crisis is out and
going and this is going to be something seen and played, yes it is overrated
but aren't most secret rares but this is such a good card. In Japan this
card see a lot of play and has been seen in more and more decks, first
released in the Kaiba Structure deck and than it was reprinted so more
people would buy and use it and more and more people did. This is just
going to be a sick card it's effect can be devastating you really do control
the game when you have this out. The only thing you have to worry about are
the high 4 stars like Goblin and Orc and cards like Injection and Jinzo, but
really besides those this card will be coming back. Oh wait did I forget You
have to watch out for D.D Warrior lady and Kycoo, yes that is right Kycoo it
happened here and will in Japan too it will make a come back just for this
monster and D.D Warrior Lady is going to see some play because of this card
alone. This is a card many are going to want but up there in the 50 price
range it is better to wait for a trade or at least until unlimited edition
comes out. But there are many reasons to play.
Why is it good?
Well besides the reasons I just explained he is good for the fact you are
taking control kind off. You attack tell them to take out a monster spell or
trap you could do a lot more than that you could mess up a deck by
eliminating a plan they have you could get rid of there traps to protect
your monster but the best and only thing I would do is call magic or spell
because those cards are the base of most decks. A lot of s/t and monster
removal = magics or spells as we now call them that to be politically
correct. But the reason to take out magics is not because any thing else
then magics are usually the most powerful cards in a deck and that is almost
always true. When playing a tourney there is never a time you want to get
rid of anything of yours but really magics gone from your deck can really
screw you. I mean if it is any kind of deck magics will hurt. There is no
bad magic in a tournament yu-gi-oh deck, well a good one anyways. Now you
see taking their monsters could be good they cannot atk you and you win
after a few turns via take away their life w/ or with out yata. But the
thing with taking out monsters are the get to pick so they will ditch
sinister serpent or Jinzo Airknight and revive them you are giving them too
much choice with magics in a deck even with out one it can mess up a deck
you are rarely ever going to get them to a point where they have o monsters
left because if you focus on their monsters the can revive them via monster
reborn call of haunted or even premature so this is not a good idea as you
can see.
The other reason this is good besides the taking cards out of your deck is
the fact that it is so hard to kill. When killed by any cards effect it
comes back during your standby phase. So what they are pretty much saying is
that the only thing that can kill it is battle damage. So that leaves you
with the usual monster threats, Such as Goblin attack force, Lily, Orc,
Jinzo and more too. But that will not be a problem really the thing is they
can kill it and then reborn it and use it's first effect or when they use
change of heart this could be just as bad as getting a lily stolen on an
open field. But this is no reason not to use it, it is regardless still a
wonderful card.
Should you use it?
Well depending on your deck the answer should be yes. If you are looking for
some disruption to even up the game when your loosing or help you win when
you are winning then this is a card that should be played and if you run a
zombie deck then you should no matter what for the fact you can get it out
via pyramid turtle and speed is important. But if you are playing this in a
beatdown or a hand disruption don't play pyramid turtle just to get out one
card it is a waste of deck space.
So overall it is a great card with a great effect to match it and how often
do we see that. But really if you get this you should really play test, it
could really make you a champ.
I give VL a 4.3/5 but that is just my opinion

Nick's Review:
This card of the
day is a card that populates a lot of decks in the current Japanese
environment. Initially, it was available only in the Kaiba Structure Deck,
but was reprinted in Duelist Legacy 4. Now it's in Dark Crisis Kaiba used
this card against Noa in during the animated series. This card can
single-handedly win you duels. Ive seen some one say no to a Gemini, don and
a breaker for this. This card is perfect for destruction decks and just
plain old beatdown decks. This card has a decent attack for a level 5 its
better than Airknight. The best part of this guy is that he keeps coming
back. You really shouldn't pick monster because your opponent can have
sinister. This guy laughs at mirror forces, exiles, d holes, riageki, cyber.
The only thing he is afraid of is goblins, giant orcs and jinzo's. He may be
a little overrated but he is still awesome none the less. Too bad I don't
have one yet. Don't bother getting more than
1 since he will be restricted.
Combos
Pyramid Turtles become the new tomatoes because vamp is better than don (and
stronger even though I love Don) and I think even if the turtle isn't
destroyed by battle he gets the effects.
Ratings
9/10 in a beatdown/hand destruction deck.
10/10 in a zombie or deck destruction deck.
P.S. Your friends will hate you when you get this out on them.

Spirit Reaper's Review:
Vampire Lord is one of
the most anticipated cards ever to be released in America. I remember
when I first found out about Vampire Lord (back around the release of
LON). I couldn't imagine a more perfect monster. The deck destruction
capabilities of Vampire Lord are simply unbelievable. If you are the kind
of person whose only sacrifice monster is Jinzo, throw in a Vampire Lord
along with it. The only downside is if it gets destroyed by battle, you
don't get it back, but in today's metagame, a lot of people aren't able to
just throw down a 2000 or more attacker whenever they please. Definitely
a good card.

Siphon X's Review:
Vampire Lord
-
As Dark Crisis was unveiled last week, we begin this week's CotDs with the
most anticipated and rarest card in the set - Vampire Lord.
As I was fortunate enough to obtain one of these buggers, I will be giving
my fill in on how well it works. V-Lord has an amazing deck destruction
effect, as he is essential in ANY deck destruction deck, dark deck, or
control. It can limit the amount of cards the opponent has available to
them, plus destroy cards you don't want them to draw, like D. D. Warrior
Girl, one of the few cards that can destroy VL. Its second ability is
completely mind blowing. It keeps coming back if it is destroyed via card
effect during your next Standby Phase, which can be lethal. As its attack
is a mere 2000, 100 points shy of being able to be destroyed by normal beast
sticks, which is a good reason why people should start playing some of the
2000+ attackers like Zombrya, Goblins, and Lily. These cards are virtually
unplaced, and that reason alone is enough to play V-Lord. Now, factoring in
the fact that he is a Zombie, he attains a new level of cruelty. Remember
that old rare card in PGD, Pyramid Turtle? Turns out he will be an asset
after all. Vampire Lord has no flaws except for weak attack, him being a 5
star, but that certainly does not downgrade his effectiveness at all, as he
can be searched by Witch if you don't feel that PT has a spot in your deck.
V-Lord is an incredible monster; one can get the opponent into a lock with
just him. I advise you, if you don't have it yet, to obtain one. It will
most definitely be restricted come the new restrictions list.
Overall Rating: 4.95/5 Know a better card (other than Yata)?
Limited: 4.85/5 One card: D. D. Warrior Lady.
Artwork: 5/5 WOW!!! Upper deck did NOT mess up his artwork! It is
incredible, and since my obtaining of it, I have gotten 2 other people into
YGO just by SHOWING them V-Lord. I fancy it to be the best artwork in the
game. The devilish smile, his top canine reaching past his lip....i just
want to stare at him all day. His spiked cape entrances me... The
background is like from another dimension, combined with the shininess...
