Greg's review:
Well this was one of the most anticipated cards in the set. It's combos are endless. I am not even going to get into the the one turn knock out and all of that stuff I will just explain how it works and what it is good for and how to use it.
Well pretty much what the card does is you can pay 1000 life points to get a card out of your fusion deck 6 stars or less for a turn and you cannot attack your life points directly. But I am sure you know of the one turn win with the combo with catapult turtle. click here to go to the combo page to check it out. Well besides the one turn win thing there is allot more you can do with this card like you could special summon thousand eyes restrict and use some equips on him and then attack opponent or lots of other fun stuff. But if you are serous about the combo with this card you must make the whole deck around it. I will post one in the deck ideas soon (next week) I love this card lots of versatility 4.6/5 one turn k.o
Siphon X's Review:
This card was one of
the most anticipated cards in the entire MFC set. It was originally released as
a hobby box secret rare in Japan, so some of us expected it to be a little
harder to get. UDE suprised us all in this one, as it was made to be a common!
Onto the actual card.
Magical Scientist definitely has some ability. The ability to summon powerful
2000 plus attackers by paying 1000 life points is an awesome deal. I have seen
people pull off a one turn KO with Catapult Turtle and MS. They summon seven
2100 attackers, tribute them off one by one, and finally tribute MS and CT.
Though this combo may seem very hard to pull off, it isnt. By using a Last Will
to summon Catapult, it makes it a little easier. Until they become restricted
(or banned) I can see no stopping these decks. Three MS, three CT, three Last
Will makes for an awesome deal, not to mention the seven 2100 attackers for the
fusions. Now let us analyze the downside to this card:
There are also definite limitations to this card. The fusion monster has to be
less than six stars. That means that until some good fusions come out with low
stars and good effects, this card is almost no help without the rest of the deck
supporting it. You cant attack their LP directly either. Now how does that
help in a beatdown? Payments of 1000 are steep, considering people have twisted
ways for comebacks, including RoD and BBtD. They will laugh in your face as you
get the first six complete, but when you try to hit them with the seventh, they
play BBtD, game over for you. Not to mention this guy is a weakling, with
300/300. Try to get Dark Baltar, FSD, The Last Warrior From Another Planet?
You cannot. Those cards specifically state that they have to be Fused using
their specified fusion cards. To play this card alone without using it in a
deck theme is almost suicide. For the ability to get monsters from your fusion
deck, i would rate him second to Metamorphosis.
Combos: Take out a Thousand Eyes Restrict, suck up their monster, play UWS or
some other card on MS and attack. Or, you could take a Super Robolady or Super
Robayarou, return it to your fusion deck to get a permanent one, and attack from
there. You could also have two or three Life Absorbing Machines on the field as
you pay, giving you back as much life as you paid. (Fire Princess deck,
anyone?).
Other than the one hit KO, this card does not have any promise in a deck, at
least a beatdown. I would have to give this card a weak 1.2 out of five for an
average beatdown, but when it is used correctly in its deck, it is the most
important card and therefore deserves a perfect 5.0/5
This is Siphon_X, signing off....
Alex's review:
There are a few potential combos with the MS (I will
refer to it as MS from
now on.) You can pull out something such as Thousand Eyes Restrict, Fushion
Richie, or Last Warrior, then follow up with a dimension hole. When the monster
is returned to the field, he stays there. This isn't a great card, cause you
have to pay life points for a single fusion that cant attack directly. You
are probably a lot better off working with a Summoner of Illusion.
Casual Play 2.5/5
Tourney Play 1.5/5
