I never really liked this guy until I started watching the show, but I soon realized that he was rather humorous.
I love his attitude. He's so pessimistic. Always worried, never willing to put himself in danger. And like several others on my list, he is quite greedy. His lust for gold almost always over rides his worries and any other feelings that might get in the way of his dream.
He was quite abused by Jafar and getting away from him was probably the best thing that could have happened to him. But he should have never fallen in with Aladdin and co. He and Abu seem to have become close friends, though he would never admit it, but it wasn't worth it to have to put up with the rest of the goons. Of course, that’s just my opinion.
One of the biggest mistakes Disney ever made was releasing Return of Jafar, and even worse was their decision to have Iago sing. Mr. Gottfried’s voice was never meant to be put to song. Speaking of which, I think they could have done much better casting here, but life goes on.
