     The families listed above all lived in the
south eastern part of Virginia. The counties
envolved are mainly: Charles City, Prince George,
Brunswick, Amelia, Lunenburg, Mechlenburg, Halifax,
Nottoway, Dinwiddie, and Chesterfield.
     The formation of these counties was as follows:

       COUNTY NAME
                                                 DATE FORMED
       Charles City--(one of original shires)------->1634
       Prince George----> from Charles City--------->1703
       Brunswick ---------->from Charles City------->1732
       Amelia--->from Prince George & Brunswick----->1735
       Lunenburg---------->from Brunswick----------->1746
       Halifax---------------->from Lunenburg------->1752
       Dinwiddie----------->fromPrince George------->1752
       Prince Edward---->from Amelia --------------->1754
       Bedford--------------->from Lunenburg-------->1754
       Charlotte------------->from  Lunenburg------->1765
       Mechlenburg------->from Lunenburg------------>1765
       Nottoway------------>from Amelia------------->1789
       Henrico --(one of the original shires)------->1634
       Goochland---------->from Henrico------------->1744
       Chesterfield---------> from Henrico---------->1749
       Cumberland-------->from Goochland------------>1749
       Chesterfield---------> from Henrico---------->1749
       Powhatan----------> from Cumberland---------->1777

     From the above table we see that a piece of land
located in Mechlenburg county in 1770 could have been
in Lunenburg county from 1746 to 1765, it could have
been in Brunswick county from 1746 to 1732, and before
that it could have been in Charles City county which was formed in 1634.
