One of the four (4) Shift-In-Charge, tasked to lead in the efficient operation of the Five Stand Tandem Cold Reduction Mill for the production of Cold Rolled Coils (both TMBP and Sheet Products). Likewise, based on OMI (Operator-Mechanic-Inspector) concept of organization, ensures maximum availability and reliability of the equipment through proper planning, scheduling and implementation of equipment maintenance and other shutdown activities in coordination with our Maintenance Planning Group. Directly handles sixteen (16) personnel per shift. Annual capacity of the line handled: 601,000 MT.

As Rolling Engineer, provides technical support to 5-Stand Tandem Mill, 4-Stand Tandem Mill, 1-Stand Temper Mill and 2-Stand Temper Mill operating personnel in matters of DRAFTING PRACTICES; ROLL COOLANT SYSTEM TROUBLESHOOTING; APPROPRIATE ROLL FORCE & TENSION SETTINGS; IN-PROCESS PRODUCT QUALITY SPECIFICATIONS especially in the production of critical products (e.g., TMBP and pre-paint roofing). Sets operating guidelines and processing set-up for new and developmental products. From time-to-time updates Standard Operating Parameters and Procedures for the Reduction Mills and Temper Mills. Conducted refresher courses on Cold Rolling Technology.

As Head of Process Engineering, administratively handled six (6) Process Engineers who were assigned to the different operating lines at the Cold Mill Division (i.e., Pickling Lines, Alkali Cleaning Lines, Batch Anneal, Coil Preparation Lines and Recoiler Lines). Sets direction and prioritization of workload for the efficient technical support to the different operating lines at the Cold Mill Division.

Supervises the operating personnel of Four Stand Tandem Reduction Mill and Single Stand Temper Mill for the production of TMBP and Sheet fullhard CRC and tempered CRC respectively.

Four Stand Tandem Reduction Mill had 10 operating personnel per shift tasked to produce 275,000 MT per year fullhard CRC (TMBP and Sheet Product).

Single Stand Temper Mill had 7 operating personnel per shift tasked to produce250,000 MT per year tempered CRC.

The Cold Mill Peripherals Projects were aimed to upgrade the capacities of the existing Pickling Line, Batch Annealing Furnaces, and Temper Mill in order to match the increased capacity of the Reduction Mills with the installation of the then new Five Stand Tandem Reduction Mill.

My role encompassed the following:

    • Participated in the bid selection and evaluation of various bid proposals.
    • Participated in the review and finalization of contract between NSC and selected bidders.
    • Provided technical services during engineering and manufacturing stage of various peripheral projects.
    • Participated in the schedules planning, materials specifications, and purchase requisition of various construction requirement of the projects.
    • Project co-ordination, monitoring of cost and physical progress.
