Hot Track Of The Week:

This is a song currently in the Top 50 that I'll feature each week.

Meghan Trainor - Criminals

"Criminals" was chosen to get released as the third official single from Meghan Trainor's latest album, Timeless, once it gained popularity after being featured in the Netflix mystery/drama, The Perfect Couple. The track which mixes Trainor's signature Pop/Doo-Wop sound with Dance sensibilities is a definite earworm and has been in my head ever since I heard it a few months ago. We'll see how much further it moves up the Top 50.

Spotlight Song Of The Week:

This is a song from the Next In Line List that may be making a debut sometime within the next few weeks.

Lady Gaga - Disease

While I love an artist who shows off all facets of their talent - and her bar anthems "You & I" and "Speechless" as well as her A Star Is Born ballad, "I'll Never Love Again" are among my favorite songs by her - many of Lady Gaga's die hard fans are likely happy that, with the release of her latest song, "Disease," she returns to her EDM/Pop roots. The song is said by many to harken back to one of her biggest hits, 2009's "Bad Romance." "Disease" is likely to hit the Top 50 within the next couple weeks.

Blast From The Past:

This is a song from the past that I'm featuring to bring back memories of yesteryear!

Robbie Williams - Angels

This week's Blast From The Past takes us back to 1999. Two years earlier, "Angels" was released by Robbie Williams as a single from Life Thru A Lens, his solo debut album after departing Take That. It became a hit across Europe, particularly in Ireland and the U.K. Two years later, it received some promotion in the U.S. when the North American arm of his record label decided to market him there. The heartfelt ballad's origins came with some controversy. Singer/Songwriter, Ray Heffernan, says he wrote an early version of it about a miscarriage his partner had a short time earlier and that he ran into Williams, who he asked to help him flesh the composition out more. After the collaboration stalled, Heffernan says he was surprised to hear his song released by Williams. For his part, Williams claims that it's true he and Heffernan met and worked on a song together that never fully came together, but that song wasn't "Angels." Williams says that "Angels," which he wrote with friend and frequent collaborator Guy Chambers, is about the love story of his favorite aunt and uncle. Heffernan ended up suing Williams and the rest of the team behind the song, but ultimately it was settled out of court. Upon its U.S., release, "Angels" reached only #53 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart, but got to a respectable peak of #25 on the Mainstream Top 40 Pop chart. It was a favorite of mine at the time and is one that I still enjoy listening to these days.
