The Rock Block Custom "Rockberry Swirl"

Here is my Rock Block Custom "Rockberry Swirl" guitar. These pictures aren't as clear as the ones for the previous 3 guitars, so I apologize.

(1.)This guitar was originally a black & white Hondo Strat copy that a friend gave me, which I eventually repainted to look like (2.)Eddie Van Halen's famous "Frankenstrat" and put a humbucker in it. Then I decided I wanted to go really radical with it and started by (3.) stripping it down to the wood. (you can see the drawing on the body of my planned pickguard). I then cut an Ibanez Jem-style handle in it and routed the standard tremelo cavity out for a Floyd Rose style tremelo. I did a variant of the Jem's "Lion Claw" routing. Then I (4.) gave it a white base coat.
Here are those pics

What I did next was dipped the body in a big 45 gallon tub of water with blue, black and purple paint floating on top. The paint sticks to the body on the way down, making a cool swirl. It's an ancient Asian technique called "Marbling". It was also used on some of the late 80's - early 90's Ibanez Jem guitars, with many more colors.

These are pictures of the body only with the hardware and pickguard in place.

For the fretboard, I wanted something besides the normal white dots, so I decided to do blue ones instead. I used clear blue plastic necklace beads in the holes, and sanded them flat.

I painted the headstock flat black and used the same Elmer's Glue method I used for TS1's Thinskull logo on the "Rock Block Custom" logo, and painted it white.

And these are pics of it fully assembled.

If you liked this one, you'll die when you see the next one!!
