I was born in a little log cabin that I
helped my daddy build. Hu!!. I grew up not
far from where ggGrandpaw "Joel Church" put
down his roots...I spent the biggest part of
my first twenty years on a little hillside
farm in a clearing in the middle of the
forest.....REALLY!!....We lived about a
hundred years behind the times...In nineteen
fifty,,we were living eighteen fifty...We
were out of sight of the world,,and lived as
if the rest of the world did not exist...We
did have a battery powered radio part of the
time,, we listened to the news,,and The Grand
Ole Opry...We (The gentelman folk in the
family) did a lot of farming,,hunting,,
fishing,,gen-sanging,,and a little bit of
lazying around on the front porch with the
hound dogs soaking up the cool country air.
... About the only employment for such a
countryfied young man was coal minning,,,I
worked in a coal mine befor I was eighteen
years old...I quit school after passing the
seventh grade,,however I later took A.B.E.
classes and got a G.E.D.deploma...Later I got
together with W.V.I.T.and compiled a few
credits.... I taught Mine Maintaince in our
local Vocational School in nineteen eighty
two,while I was layed off at The U.S.Steel #2
mines.... I worked at that mines (when it
worked) from 1969,to 1991...
In 1963 I met a pretty little ole girl, named
Yvonne Beckner, and I married her...She was a
good influence on me..I worked to support
us,and she kept us fed,and clothed, as we
brought up four children.,, Believe it or
not, before Reganomics one family member could
support a family....I bet if we really looked
in to it. Gen. Sherman was also a
Republican...Welllll, anyhow, we brougt up
four fine children, and they are bringing up
a whole mess of grandchildren for us. Even if
every family member does have to work to
survive.,,, Ive retired from the mines, but
one retirement is no longer enough to live
on, Yvonne and I both have to work to make
ends meet. I wish some honest Politicians
would run for office, ha,ha,ha. I am naive
arent I?..I ain't going to brag to much on
this little woman of mine, she will get the
big head. . Check out her webpage... She got
into this genealogy thing before I did, and
was very proud to find that there had been
books written about her ancestors,. I had to
search untill I found a thing or two wrote up
about my folks,, now shes o.k.
