THIS SITE IS DEDICATED TO THE DECENDANTS OF YANKEE JOHN CHURCH><>< N.C.IN THE 1700s ** I have heard it said that John Church Sr, came through Virginia, on his way to North Carolina,++ Amos stated on his pension application that he was born in Va. so I suppose that this was the route taken by John during his migrating. .+++John came into North Carolina around 1750.+++ HIs first wife "Ms Stamper"gave John several children, but I have learned little about her. +++John and Ms Stamper's firstborn,"Amos Church" fought alongside a man named Joel Stamper, at The Battle Of Kings Mountain. (Revolutionary War) perhaps Joel Stamper was Ms Stamper's relative.+++ My G-G- Grandfather Joel SR, Church was born to Yankee John Church, and Jane Andrews, somewhere around 1880***It could be that Joel Sr. was named after the Joel Church that was killed in a massacre which followed The Battle Of Wyoming,(Wyoming PA,1778) who is believed to have been a son of Benjamin Church from Mass. Our Joel Church,son of John Sr. was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina to John's second wife Jane Andrews. The Tree of Yankee John Church grew quiet large,its branches spreading around the world.+++ This site is most particular about the branch that spread into Virginia, and West Virginia.+++ I apologize in advance for mistakes that I might make. I don't want to show anyones relatives in a bad light, but remember!! these are my relatives also.
