"Basic Instinct"

Now that you’re out of my life
I sit around wasting time
But girl, it wasn’t up to me
You’re still on my mind
If you’ve found somebody
He’s one lucky man
If not and you still ain’t callin’
I understand

Thought everything was cool
Thought everything was going smoothly
I was clearly living in a fantasy
And guess who’s the fool now? Me.

Hate to say it but you were meant for me
But the facts are there, no mystery
I don’t shoulder the blame as often as I like
Never had any game even after I got a bike

You clinged right to me, it was basic instinct
To go out for a bite to eat and a few drinks
Maybe I’m misunderstood here, I stood here
For over an hour, how sour can this be, I’m new here

Please tell me why this had to happen
All for the sake of you being happy
Forget the fun, I’ve got to run
No, those aren’t tears, just almost two years
Spent going there and back
To see who and who all else
You and your friends attached to the bell
That rings when I’m in town
I’m here, here, I’m getting gone, but before long
Sometimes you just have to let a girl be wrong
