"Calpernia Winchell"

Met her in a bar
Impressed by beauty, he shyed away
But they laughed
And had a good time together

No matter if it was "wrong"
The story still goes on
Hate tore love apart
Breaking many hearts
…in the process

Dated, insatiated, appreciated
Each other’s company
Love knocked, love walked
Love saw and gave itself freely

Soldier’s girl in a soldier’s world
Of homophobia and altercations
This place is a messed up nation
We go by an abbreviation
U.S., us, they thought
He never worried of getting caught
He knew who he loved
She was his meaning of
Happiness and that may have been
What caused it to happen
But one can’t dwell on the past
Appreciate life and memories while they last

He’s loving every minute
Was thankful to be in it
