"Copycat"

Staring at myself in the mirror
Trying to find out why
There’s always someone staring
Back at me on the other side
But they don’t wonder the same
They don’t think the way
That I do, believe me 'cause I know

I’ve been there and back
I like it here more
There’s more to absorb
We have feelings
While the other place
Has messed up reasons
And that guy, he has my face

He smiles
All the while knowing
He can’t without me
He hides
He’s a bona fide
Copycat who resides
On the inside
Of the mirror

Why can’t I be more like that guy?
Still staring and wondering
The reflection is honest, I’m muttering
Loosen up, you’re too tense I say
He can’t be better than you anyway
Life has treated him the same as you
He just can’t see himself without you
Looking to the mirror for some truth
And you stare more for a minute asking, “What’s the use?”

I catch myself drifting
Into thoughts I never thought I could think of
I wonder if he sees
What happens when you fall in love
I long to know him better
I want him to know how I feel
Cause I barely know myself
I guess that’s the deal
But what happens when I die?
Does he still stay there or do I?
Do I take his place
Becoming someone else’s face?
