"Fast Metabolism"

Maybe I think too much
Maybe I eat too much
But I’m healthy as can be
Maybe I dream too much
Maybe I sleep too much
Only to keep me from getting tired easily

The food doesn’t stick
Bone structure’s not thick
I’d like to take a moment
To thank my fast metabolism

This isn’t a race to the finish
This is the time to sit and listen
There isn’t a throne to inherit
This is the time to price admission
How many rolls are on your plate?
You should have taken the time to appreciate

I work out, I don’t run
I walk around when the sun’s about done for the day
I swim now, I float ashore
I almost drown when there’s more in store by the bay
The tide is high, the wide sky
Flies blue kites in the morning light
Just like my spirit and my subconscious
I’m fully asleep but I’m on it

In no way am I perfect
We all have our defects
But no recall can be made
Once you’re out of the shade
I hope you can understand this
You must accept that I’m not perfect
