"Framed"

She drew a picture of me
And it felt until recently
I was stuck in that moment
And was going to be forever
To be honest, I’m glad I was wrong
All along, glad I was wrong

Just an ordinary day
Sunny, raining, draining
My feelings as she
Stroked on that paint

Nailed it on the first try
All you have to do is cry
For a picture to bleed
So you may again be free

Not afraid of anything
Except being framed
While I’m the one inside
Forced to sit there and dry

I miss you but I can see you
Wondering why I’m in the same pose
Playing my favorite songs
And you’re screaming
“Why aren’t you tapping your toes?”

I can’t move, beginning
To not be able to breathe
And you’ll be finishing
Don’t wonder why the painting’s leaking
Don’t touch up the paint again, baby
I’m just trying to break through
I’m not even trying to ruin it at all
Doing my best to crawl
Out of what you’ve made me out to be
