"Jinxed Clauses"
Fearing my life
In a dark alley at night
Why am I here, I ask in fright
Scared upon the sight
Of a man who walks
With a dangerous gawk
I can see him
He can see me
I tried to stay calm
“That’ll be your time”
Said the reader of my palm
I guess I’m in line
I’d rather die
Of natural causes
Instead of under
Some jinxed clauses
I tried not to jostle
Afraid of seeming docile
Advantage has been taken
(Never have I) Wanted to be so forsaken
By a man who walks
With a dangerous gawk
I can see him
He can see me
I tried to stay calm
“That’ll be your time”
Said the reader of my palm
I guess I’m in line
I was only his specimen to dissect
Did I do anything to become a suspect?
Maybe that’s why, I thought, but I was incorrect
He spoke but I couldn’t decipher his dialect
He’s a man who walks
With a dangerous gawk
I can see him
He can see me
I tried to stay calm
“That’ll be your time”
Said the reader of my palm
I guess I’m in line
Soon I would become evidence
To add to the retrospect
Then he walked by and I sat in reverence
As I took time to analyze the concept
Me? Him? Why would that happen?
A joke? If so, I’m not laughin’
