"Swallow That Pride"

Why do I stay up late?
When do I need to abate
How this stress affects me?
Where does it say that less means more?
What is this life for?

Why do you feel the need?
When will you only see
How much of a man I really am?
Where does it say you may be arrogant?
What? You’re caught in embarrassment?

Wipe the floors with your sorrow, tomorrow
Maybe something more will come for you to borrow
Swallow that pride, keep it inside, all inside
Tuck in that overconfidence while I chide
To myself, to myself, to myself
Opposite you, 50 feet, still you speak
Yell, you fell, you smell like someone else I know
Be yourself, be yourself, ‘fore you melt

Why can’t you wear your own heart on your sleeve?
(since) When in the name of Heaven do you believe
How you scratch is a matter of how you itch?
Where does it say you’re allowed to snitch?
What’s some good advice? Here’s some, zip it!
