"Sweet Admiration"

I miss the love we never had
I miss the times when I was glad
Imagining all this in my head
Making up a love laying in bed

Sweet admiration
The center of my fixation
May be because
I wanted any kind of love
But I’m covering
With this excuse, now you’re wondering
Why I didn’t tell the truth
Again, I’m pretendin’ up a life
Based on my memories of you

You smiled, said hello
I said goodbye, I didn’t know
That you liked me in the way I did you
Because you never showed any sign to tell by
I admitted to daydreaming and saying your name
But secretly, if I never tell, it’s fair game

I saw your picture on a wall
One day outside cruisin’ the town
I got out of my car, not walking very far
To the picture of you snoozing in that white gown
I laughed, went back to my gas guzzler
I jumped in and that was the end to this puzzler
I wondered how modest one can be
No one was as modest as she when she sleeps
