For the moment, some of the actual linkage is pending until I can get permission from various authors/owners/etc. Bear with the wait for just a bit.

My Favorite Authors

All around good writers and their pages/series

Benaresq: Dark, but so very human in its darkness, where pleasurepain is a given, and a little cruelty can sometimes be the only way to show kindness.

The Dark Ages: Nick Midian's 'Dark Reflection' universe. Long. Indefinately unfinished, many fics. All het. OC's with such fully-crafted personalities and backgrounds that I wasn't sure they were OC's for several chapters.

Kayla: Just fun. It's almost all hillarious, even some of the darkfic.

Otsoko: He doesn't have his own page anymore, which is a shame. He still slashes Riley and Graham, both together and with Xander, better than any I've ever seen. Extra points for South American cultural realism.

Pointy Stakes: Mad Poetess has written a lot. Most of her Buffyfic is X/S. All of her fic is good. Chocolatey Goodness is just as bittersweet and fun as its name implies.

Sajinn's Quill Queue: Sajinn wrote the first slashfic I ever read. Note that it's now the basis of both my writing and reading. This, I think, says something.

Teland: There's a reason Te's recced everywhere you go. She's brilliant. Bloody and dark and smutty and pleasurepain and it's not sugary-sweet but ye Gods it's good.

Wordsmith: X/S again. I'm wondering now why I write so little of it, since I read so much. Anyway, she's got some lovely slashy sweetness, made all the better by being actually in character. Read the 'Re' trilogy. Now.

Must-read Fics

The ones that kept me up until two in the morning reading, and then until four thinking about them.

Shameless, Falling, and Damnation by Kassie and Lar. Everything at their Bibliotheque Diabolique is great. This trilogy, though, will nest in the back of your brain and fester there. Xander/Lindsey.

Sidelines by Anna S. Alternate S4 with an S/X romance that isn't sugar or laughter or darkfic blood, but is simply the characters, being who they are, surviving as they do in spite--and maybe because--of that fact.

Sweet Revenge by Jackson. Gah. So tearingly painful that it rips at your heart with the need for things to go right just as they keep spiraling farther and farther into wrongness. Long. Finally finished. Thank God. Give yourself a few hours, and possibly a box of tissues, for this one.

The Viking Series by Kaz. Bloody and sweet and wonderful all at once. S/X as it should be, without the gratuitous BSDM or angst or overused plot devices. Just plain good. How often do you find fic that, from start to finish, is just plain good?

More coming!
