I am going to try to make you life, and mine, easier by making a long story as short as possible. I have been watching Sliders for a very short time, but I've gotten to know the history of the show quite well. The only remaining Slider from the original cast is Rembrant, who has made it as one of the most loved Sliders.

This entire history is from the point of view of Maggie Beckett, two and a half year old Slider. The reason it's from her point of view is because that's the way I wrote it, and, frankly, I am to lazy to change it. :-)

The whole idea started with Quinn Mallory and Professer Maximillion Arturo. Quinn “discovered” sliding in his own basesment, an idea from what I understand both of them were working on. What we call Sliding is in reality travel from one parallel universe to another. Parallel worlds are all the same. Their all the same year, the same place, but everything else is different. It can range from one small thing, aka the invention of the toaster never happened, to pretty big things, aka the extintion of the Dinosaurs never happened. It depends on the world.

The first Sliders consisted of four people; Quinn, the Professer, Wade Welles, and Rembrandt Brown. Wade was a close friend of Quinn’s, a sweet, good-natured girl who was head over heels for him, but Quinn had a hard time noticing, being so wrapped up in the “discovery” of Sliding. Rembrandt, called Remmy by most of his friends, is a singer from the seventies, a funny father figure, who was sucked in the Sliding vortex accidently when the first three Slid. Remmy became good friends to all of us Sliders, and has helped us through a lot.

I was there to see the first loss of a Slider. The Slides slid to my world, a world where I was a pilot in the Marines and happiliy married. Things where going pretty well, until our planet was threatened with distruction. The Sliders where our races only hope of survival; my husband had been working on the idea of Sliding to evacuate as much of the planet as they could, and then Quinn and the Sliders came to help. My world was what destroyed them; Wade was unknwingly forced to choose the fate of the people of my world, Quinn was tricked into helping a murderer and the Professer was killed. We got as many people off the planet as we could, but my world was destroyed. My husband also died, was murdered by my commanding officer. I joined the Sliders to kill him, and find revenge for the pain he caused to me and my world. But the tables turned on me and I fell in love with Quinn. We found the way to his home, but when the vortex opened he and I were distracted. Wade and Remmy slid home without us and we missed the slide.

Quinn and I slid for four months before we found our way home, to a planet that had been overrun by Kromaggs, a deformed human race that had also discovered Sliding and had used it by takiung over other worlds and inslaving the humans on it. The Kromaggs had taken Remmy and Wade.

We found Remmy, brainwashed and half alive, but we missed Wade. We could not find her, and Quinn now had two reasons to leave this world: find a weapon to destroy the Kromaggs, and find Wade.

Of course, we did not find Wade. We did find out that Quinn was not actaully from the world he thought he was. His parents where Sliders, and where from Kromagg prime, and had his him on another world in hopes he would survive the Kromagg/Human War. His adoptive parents hid him, and he was raised on a world that was not his own. He also discovered he had a brother, Colin, who had been hidden as well. We now set off in hopes of finding Colin’s home world. And of course we did.

We found Colin on a Amish-type world. His parents had died when he was young and he had grown into a old fasioned genious, inventing such things as flying machines and lightbulbs. When he joined a new adventure started, a new search for a new home. The Sliders where four again.

We lost Quinn and Colin in the same Slide; Colin was lost to Slide from world to world uncontroably, and Quinn’s mind was melded with Mallory, his double on another world, a silly and self-centered conman at the time. Mallory was alone on his world, and befriended us. Diana Davis also joined Remmy and I. Diana was a scientist on her world, increadbly smart but niave. She seemed to have had as hard a childhood as I, and we became friends.

Now the Sliders are Mallory, Remmy, Diana, and me, and we keep Sliding. I am no longer sure what we are trying to find. Maybe Remmy’s world, or maybe our own, a place that we can say is our home. But until them, we are home, because home is where the heart is, and our hearts are with each other.
