Bad to Worse

The teen cries alone in her home Huddled in a corner Broken and bloody

Her eyes are bruised and swollen Red from the tears Her head is aching In her mind the events rerun

He was out of control He was shouting He was cursing He was hitting The stench of alcohol was strong on his breath

He deflowered her sister, only eight-years-old He advanced on her mother A bat clenched in his hand The bat collided with her stomach Her mother fell to the ground, wailing She had been pregnant

The teen jumped in front She couldn’t let him hurt her mother He just threw her out of the way She pled with him His blows rained down until her mother’s body went limp It was soaked in blood Then he came for her

She fought him off Her kicks were well aimed He fell to the ground She grabbed the phone

The police arrive Find her huddled there They try to help her She is beyond repair The scene replays itself in her mind again The memories will never go away
