JUNE 13
Well the evening seem to get
off to a not so good start. It appears that Stephanie's car has an offset rearend
and was not legal for the Bomber Class of cars. Mike's engine was still in the
shop and so he was going to race Stephanie's again. But one of the other drivers
(a good guy) told him, that a couple of the other drivers had said that if he
drives her car. Then they were going to prove that it was illegal. So Mike having
purchased the car from the track (as it was the track car for the last couple
of years that I know of) went to the Main Official with the rumors and showed
him the contract that stated that he was buying a legal Bomber car. And was told
that it should be legal. Upon entrance to the pits, once again, approaching
'Ozzie', They decided to have it checked out by the techs. Well it was not legal
and so on Monday, it will be taken down and they have agreed to make it legal or
give Mike the money to make it legal. That is fair, but that also meant that no
way was Stephanie going to be able to to drive for any points as she was
then told that if she did, she would receive no points for her car. John Saunders
was nice enough to put a '7' over his '33' and run for her points. This helps the
car receive points but not the driver. He will again do this next weekend for her.
'THANK YOU, JOHN SAUNDERS'
Mike put Vicki Shura's back up motor in his car and was going to run it
'THANK YOU TO BILL AND VICKI SHURA'
He did an alright job. He qualified in the '15's' and was in the fast heat. He
pulled a second place in the heat and I will again have to check the officials results
for his finish in the Main Event. I think that he finished in 7th or 8th.
He was doing an awesome job
when his tow in got knocked out of line by Mike Yaw. Any way after that it appeared
that he was going to lose brakes and headed off the road and over the embankment,
once again, Mike Yaw got in the way of a car with no brakes and was taken out to.
The crowd booed as the officials disqualified our Mike and and black flagged him off
the track. They were yelling that it was the wrong one dq'ed. Any way after having an
official check his brakes and putting in fluid and the official checking again. He
was allowed to come back on. The crowd really cheered then. He is getting quite a
fan club.
The one thing that happened that
really upset us was that Vicki Shura running an awesome race and in 2nd place finish
for her heat was dq'ed for not using her brakes when a car spun out in front of her.
Well they need to wake up and realize that this is racing and she was doing a good job.
Once again I am under the impression that they just can't stand the thought of a girl
up there in rookie points. She is ahead of some of there all time drivers that have
been there for awhile. She loaded up and left, having felt that she had run one of her
best races. Can't say as I blame her but I do hope that she is back again next week
to show them that the 'gals can do it'
'DON'T LET THEM WIN VICKI'
