Well, as most you know now, VP is finally coming to its end. (**sniff snif**) It will close permanantly tonight, as we begin the New Year 2002. Fortunately for us VPers, the people at Excite have been working day and night for the past two months to bring us the vast majority of the Virtual Places functionality we all love. Yea, it still needs a lot of work done. They say within the next few weeks, they will be adding browser functionality, gestures, and favorite rooms, which it is lacking now. But least its up and running without a lapse between the closing of VP and the opening of the new one, the Excite Super Chat. And you can even use your same VP Nickname. Below is some screen shots I've captured to show ya what you can expect.

Yes, the Arcade is still here. But the games aren't working yet. Soon hopefully!
And the Help Desk is there. If you have any problems or questions, go there. Someone will help you out.
Another familar room. The rooms can hold up to 30 people. Notice there is no observe tho, you have to enter the room...No more spies...LOL. If the room is full you will be taken to another copy of the room. The scoll down list on the page shows you the other room copies of the one your in.
Notice the avs, no Megas, least not yet anyways. AVs are limited to 10k for now and in gif format. You can use animated gifs tho, see Tweety, its animated. Cute huh! File transfers aren't working yet, but will be added they say.
Alot of the Rooms and User Rooms look like this, no background, hopefully the browser will work soon!
