The Newton Boys

What I was hoping for was another Young Guns, but that's not what I saw. I saw the Young Riders. The Newton Boys had some serious potential. Good actors, a great plot, and a nice genre of films in which to fit in. It ended up being too long, very boring, and never all that exciting.

We get the boys robbing banks, but that's been done to death. We never get something new. There's nothing fresh here. There's no reason to really care whether they make it or not. I never believed that there was love between Louise (Julianna Marguiles) and Willis (Matthew McConaughey). They just seemed to meet and be instantly in love.

The best part of the movie comes in the credits when we see one of the real Newton boys on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He's old, but he's funny and this was so much more entertaining than the entire movie combined.

I give The Newton Boys a C-.
