Persuasion
By: Jane Austen
Personally, this is one of my favorites of Jane Austen's novels. It is not as popular as Pride and Prejudice or Emma, but it is as good.

Anne Elliot is 28 years old. 10 years ago a dashing young soldier proposed to her. Although she believed she loved him with all her heart- when she sought counsel from a trusted friend (her mother was dead), she was told that the soldier wouldn't make it respectably through life and he was too headstrong. So the young Anne refused his offer. Ten years later she is gaining control of her feelings again and is getting calm, when all of a sudden they are thrust into each other's company again. Only things are somewhat more complicated now then they were ten years ago. The Musgrove girls are quite impressed with the handsome Captain (for such he has become), she meets another young man who would most willingly be suitor and flirtatious Penelope Farmer has entered her father and older sister's life. What is a well-trained gentleman's daughter to do when faced with so many difficult situations? Can Frederick Wentworth be persuaded Anne still loves him?
This is such a sweet story!
This sounds like a book I'd lke to own!
Movies Based on Persuasion
1.
Actors: Amanda Root, Ciaran Hinds
Company: A&E and BBC
Director: Roger Michell
Year: 1995
Acting:
Wonderful! Amanda Root is a super actress- she does the Anne Elliot part perfectly! I have seen Ciaran Hinds in two other films, and he is also very talented. All of the actors do a very good job of showing what their characters were really like.
Filming:
I thought it was a very good job. The angles in some scenes were marvelous, they added to the quality of what the characters were feeling. And… it was filmed in England. O joy unbounded. =)
Things you might not like in this movie:
The fashions… again.
J Please note:The picture on the cover has nothing to do with the movie. I am disgusted they would put such a terrible picture on the front of such a wonderful movie. There is no scene like the one displayed on the cover in the actual movie.
Rating:
PG for brief mild language

The second version was made in the mid 1970's. It was made by BBC and A&E, I think. Quite frankly, this is one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. The sets are done in the coloring of the 1970's, the actors just say their lines, the filming is not good and for all the words that are said you have basically no clue what is going on. This is so dry!
