Kevin Kelly: We've got 5 big matches scheduled in addition to the King of the Ring Tournament, where the winner will receive an NWA World Title shot at World War 3.
Jim Ross: A big question here is who will be Curt Hennig's mystery opponent when he defends his WCW Television Title?
Eric Bischoff: And the Main Event is for the NWA World Title as the man who destroyed both Masakatsu Funaki and Dan "The Beast" Severn in less than a month, the NWA World Champion, "Psycho" Sid Vicious defends the belt against the hardcore legend and NWA Great, Awesome Al!
Jim Ross: We've got First Round action in the ring as "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash takes on "The People's Champ" Gregory Shaw! Let's go to the ring!
The Match: Kevin Nash completely dominated the smaller Shaw. Shaw tried to use his speed, but was overpowered every time he took an advantage. Nash finished him off in under 5 minutes when he pinned him following a side slam.
Winner: Kevin Nash in 4:23.
(Nash advances to the semi-finals)
The Match: Hall and Johnson traded punches for much of the first part of the match. This match went back and forth and was basically a pure brawl. Johnson and Hall battled into the crowd and into the concession area. Johnson tried to put Hall through a table with the "Rock Bottom", but Hall blocked it, clotheslined him through the table and knocked them both out. The referee had no choice but to count both men out.
Result: A Double-Countout.
(Kevin Nash receives a bye to the KOTR Finals.)
Jim Ross: Kevin Nash has a bye right into the finals!
Eric Bischoff: And rightfully so! "Big Sexy" has a walk!
The Match: In what proved to be an "Epic Battle", Sting and Vader could not put one another down. Sting used everything in his arsenal: The Stinger Splash, Scorpion Death Drop and Death Lock, top-rope splash, etc. but Vader just wouldn't go out. After nearly 5 minutes of Sting pounding on Vader, he laughed and finally started to fight back and literally destroyed Sting. He pounded on his ribs in the corner for several minutes and followed that with 3 "Vader Splashes" and an Earth-shattering powerbomb that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Vader finished Sting with a moonsault to advance. Sting was removed from the ring on a stretcher.
Winner: Big Van Vader in 8:56
(Vader advances to the Semi-Finals.)
The Match: Luger carried the advantag throughout the match with Savage and Jamie at ringside. When they weren't interfereing or distracting the referee, they were distracting Golddust by threatening Marlena. The end came when, while Savage was choking Marlena, Luger came from behind 'Dust and lifted him into the "Torture Rack", causing him to submit immediately. Savage continued to choke Marlena as security tried to pull him off. Savage eventually let go and was dragged out in handcuffs.
Winner: Lex Luger in 6:02.

Eric Bischoff: The Last Resort? What kind of name is that?
(The camera fades into a dark lockerroom. A single light shines down upon a man with a shaved head. His face is hidden in the shadows.)

Eric Bischoff: I know I'm shaking, haha.
Jim Ross: Regardless, we're going to the ring as Scott Putski puts the WCW Cruiserweight Title on the line against Taka Michinoku and Super Crazy!
The Match: The crowd was left in shock when, only a minute and a half into the match, Super Crazy pinned defending champion, Scott Putski, after Michinoku hit his patented "Michinoku Driver II", eliminating him. After this, it was a high-flying spot-fest between Crazy and Michinoku. The end came when Taka Michinoku hit the "Michinoku Driver II" from the middle ropes to win the match and the title.
Winner and NEW WCW Cruiserweight Champion: Taka Michinoku in 10:13.
The Match: The scientific wrestling match of the year has the crowd on the edge of their seats in a whirlwind of action. Regal and Chamberlain proved why they were the WCW Tag Team Champions by dominating Chris Benoit in the early parts of the match. Cutting of the ring, double-teaming and blind tags helped the Blue Bloods keep the advantage.
The complexion of the match changed when, after Benoit and Chamberlain collided in the center of the ring, Benoit rolled over to benoit and made the breathtaking tag to Malenko that turned the tide of the match. Malenko beat on both the Blue Bloods for several minutes until Benoit made it back to his feet. The action went back and forth once again as Malenko and Regal battled on the outside and Benoit and Chamberlain in the ring.
The finish ultimately came when Chris Benoit blocked a vertical suplex from Chamberlain, reversed it and locked him in the "Crippler Crossface"! Chamberlain submitted immediately to allow Benoit and Malenko to take the win!

Jim Ross: Curt Hennig is awaiting the man who has been stalking him for many weeks. I am guessing that the referee is just going to count his opponent out.
(The referee starts to count as Hennig counts along with him. 1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9.. the sound of glass shattering is heard and the Arrowhead Pond goes wild. The cheers are deafening as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin runs to the ring and starts to trade blows with Curt Hennig!)
Jim Ross: Stone Cold! Stone Cold! Stone Cold has returned!
The Match: With the crowd solidly behind Curt Hennig, he gained momentum early on, but every time he took control, Austin would low blow him and take the advantage. Finally, Hennig took a strong advantage and pounded Austin from pillar to post. Hennig hit his rolling necksnap and focused on Austin's knees. Hennig tried to hook the "Perfect-Plex" but was pushed off. Austin landed a kick, went for the "Stunner", but Hennig pushed him right into the referee, crushing him in the corner.
Prince Julian LeMonie and Chris Jericho make their way to ringside. Jericho and Hennig start to argue on the ring apron. As Jericho distracted Hennig, LeMonie came from behind and smashed him in the back with a chair. LeMonie dragged Austin onto Hennig. The ref counts 1...2...3!
