FLIGHT 261 EMPLOYEE FUNDRAISER APRIL 4th AT CRYSTAL
In light of recent events we have decided to turn our spring fling efforts towards a very good cause, to raise some money for the Flight 261 Emploee Assistance Fund. Airline employees with a valid ID can bring unlimited guests, so lets support this great cause! Here is what is in the works:
28 DOLLAR LIFT TIX: Five dollars from each ticket sale will go directly into the assistance fund. Cash and Checks only please!
"POKER RUN": This is not a timed race, but a fun scavenger hunt in which you must foolow the clues to seven different stations throughout the mountain and collect cards for a poker hand. The top winning hands get some very cool grand prizes to include ski and snowboard gear from Rossignol, ski passes from Crystal and a round trip ticket from Alaska Airlines. The entry fee is ten dollars and 100 percent of it goes directly to the fund.
SKILL BUILDER CLINICS: Take a spin around the mountain while you brush up on your skiing and riding skills with Crystal's finest instructors. We will tailor the topic to the conditions and the group, so this promises to be a hoot!
APRES SKI: We will continue the festivities and award the poker run grand prizes at Sourdough Sal's (upstairs in the lodge.) Folks who do not win race prizes will still be eligible to score some great loot because we plan to raffle off many additional prizes. We will announce the grand prize winners from the poker run as well as the raffle drawing winners.
A HEAVENLY WEEK!
Our small yet very fiesty ski/snowboard team has once again established itself as a force to be reckoned with on the slopes this season. Despite being severely outnumbered (as usual) by the big boys, we managed to acquit ourselves very well at the Heavenly Mountain Race week Lisa Sweeney was in her usual winning form and took the overall women's title. Also "in the money" for team points were Kelle Porter-Wells and Dana Haines who both ended up in the top three age group standings! Sean Cassidy barely eked out a win for the snowboard crown. We are in the hunt for the NAASF team cup, so we need you!
NEXT STOP: Sun Valley - WEEEEEEEER BAAAAAAAACK!!! After an all too long hiatus, Sun Valley once again plays host to the NAASF race week. This world class resort is a long time favorite for many of our folks and is a carver's delight. Throw in equal parts sunshine and friends, and you have a recipe for a fantastic time! The ski week festivities run from March 19th through the 24th and include:
Private Alaska party sponsored by RED BULL
Welcome Reception Sponsored by Michelob Light
Many fun Ski and Snowboard races
Costume Party with live music sponsored by Michelob
and much much more...
Horizon offers direct flights to Sun Valley from Seattle and Boise, and ground shuttle service is also available from Boise, so getting there is a snap. Your $45 registration fee entitles you to all parties, the on mountain picnic, provides discounts for lift tickets, and free admission to all race events. All you have to do is find a place to stay, and we've even scored you some great deals for that! Looking for a roommate? The naasf web site has a bulletin board for people seeking roomies. But wait - we'll make it even easier! Just go to
www.naasf.com/00.sunvalley.html for all your ski week questions. The page will be updated as more news becomes available.
TEAM T-SHIRTS/SKI JACKETS/GEAR DISCOUNTS
We have obtained very favorable rates on our own custom designed ski club T-shirts and also very cool top quality shell jackets. Also, NAASF is constantly working with leading manufacturers to obtain preferential pricing on top of the line gear exclusively for our active members. If you want to score deals on items such as:
Spyder Team jackets!
Salomon skis/boots/bindings
Nordica skis/boots
K2 Skis
Marker bindings
Rossignol Snowboards
Assorted gloves, goggles etc,
you must be an ACTIVE participant in NAASF races. This means you must be a registered racer and be listed in the race standings for more than just one race. If interested, contact Sean Cassidy.
VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS NEEDED!
In case it isn't already quite obvious, a very few people take from their own free time to do the majority of the work for this club - gathering members, arranging equipment deals, putting together club rosters, arranging lodging, designing the web page, organizing the ski day and mid week discounts,...the list goes on and on. In addition to our duties organizing the Alaska team/club, a few of us such as Leslie Samler and myself also work on the national level as NAASF officers. The bottom line is this: everybody benefits from the club but very few step up to the plate and offer their services. This is not a huge commitment but we need help and we need it now! If you are interested helping us with membership, publicity, web design or team ski week coordinator positions, please contact us ASAP!
