SR 96 was added to the state highway system effective April 1, 1992. Beginning at I-5 Exit 186 a few miles south of Everett Mall, SR 96 heads east on 128th and 132nd Streets SE. At Seattle Hill Rd, SR 96 turns left and heads NE. At Lowell-Larimer Rd, SR 96 turns right and heads SE to Jct SR 9, the eastern terminus of SR 96. Sr 96 is 6.75 miles long.
