SR 109 (trunk)
SR 109 starts at Jct US 101 in downtown Hoquiam and heads west to Jct SR 115 a couple of miles north of Ocean Shores. From Jct SR 115, SR 109 turns right and heads north along the Pacific Ocean to Taholah. In the early 1960s the Department of Highways had started extending SR 109 north the dozen miles or so from Taholah to Jct US 101 near Queets. This construction included completion of a bridge across the Quinault River just upstream from Taholah. The Department and Quinault Tribe disagreed about completion of the highway and construction stopped. Perhaps the DOT and Quinault Nation will someday reach an agreement on completion of SR 109. The portion of SR 109 open to traffic is 40.50 miles long
Before 1964, SR 109 was SSH 9C.
SR 109 Spur
SR 109 Spur was completed NW of Hoquiam in 1983. The Spur begins at Jct SR 109 on the west side of Hoquiam and heads NE to Jct US 101 north of town. SR 109 Spur is 1.82 miles long.
