State Route 224

When the current state highway numbering system was first posted in January 1964, SR 224 began at Jct US 410 near Kiona. In 1967, this portion of US 410 became US 12. Around 1973, the interchange that is now I-82/US 12 Exit 96 was built a short distance from the SR 224/US 12 intersection. SR 224 was extended along old US 12 to the interchange. From the Kiona area, SR 224 heads east via the City of West Richland to Jct SR 240 in the City of Richland. SR 224 is 10.15 miles long (2001).

Before 1964, SR 224 had been part of SSH 3R.
