SR 262 was added to the state highway system effective April 1, 1992. This highway begins at Jct SR 26 about 8 miles east of Royal City and heads north then east to O'Sullivan Dam. The dam forms the Potholes Reservior. SR 262 crosses the dam and continues east to Jct SR 17. SR 262 is 24.22 miles long.
