SSH 6A was added to the state highway system in 1937. This route began at Jct PSH 6 (now SR 31) at Tiger and headed southwesterly, ending at Jct PSH 3 (US 395) in Colville. When the current state highway numbering system was first posted in January 1964, SSH 6A was resigned as SR 294.
