US 730 was part of the original US Highway system of 1926. US 730 leaves Oregon and enters Washington State in the Wallula Gap and heads NE along the SE shore of the Columbia River to Jct US 12 at Wallula Junction. The Washington State portion of US 730 is 6.o8 miles long (2002).
From 1937 to 1986, US 395 ran coincident with the Washington state portion of US 730. This roadway was also designated as, but not posted as the Wallula branch of PSH 3 until 1970.
