You wiped away the fallen tears, And chased my fears away.
At night you whispered in my ear the secrets of the dark. And sang to me sweet melodies that rendered in my heart.
You were the one to make me laugh when my heart was made of stone. And it was who encouraged me, each time I felt alone.
But now I feel alone again, without you by my side. Those summer days have strayed away, and it's hard to say goodbye....
To the boy who thought he'd live forever, as he was young of mind, but forever quickly snuck upon us, and you were gone without a sign.
And time will always tell its tale, that all things have to change, just like our jaded summer, where nothing stays the same.
But I refuse to say goodbye to a friendship that had to end. So I wrote this poem in loving memory of my jaded summer friend.

It came upon a jaded summer when you were by my side. You came to me so suddenly and caught me by surprise.
And just as fast, your life did pass, as to me it once appeared. But I was told as the news grew old, you've long since disappeared.
And when I knew that it was you, it left me to remenise of summer days, and youthful ways, and the friend of whom I'll miss.
I still recall the day we met, it seems so long ago, that summer day two years before, when you climbed through the window.
You opened up your heart to me, with that silly, flirty grin. And as you stayed to talk with me, I knew I'd found a friend.
You came to me in my time of need, when the tears were being shed. You bravely fought the painful wars that were raging in my head.
By day you took me out about and forced me into play.

* Someone told me that the word "jaded" meant "changing", but I also used it in the context of meaning "precious" like jade, the gemstone. Either way you choose to look at it, I think it fits nicely. This poem is dedicated to a special friend whose name (which was purposely used as part of the title) means "Tommorrow's Jade Summers." And the moral of my poem is to hold on to those precious memories because when tomorrow comes, memories are all u have left.~*~Ngoc Jade~*~ |
