Lance Hails was the first member of the Wilkinson family to appear in Ramsay Street. He was a friend of Hannah Martin and tried to impress her by giving her expensive gifts which turned out to be his mother's jewellery. Lance returned some time later with his mother Ruth and twin sister Anne, when they moved into No.32 Ramsay Street. By then he had become Lance Wilkinson After a long period of being treated as a fool at school, Lance gained some respect by getting one of the most popular girls at school, Amy Greenwood, to be his girlfriend. Their long standing relationship was mostly based on Lance following her instructions. Lance had also been dragged into more than a few of Toadie's money making schemes. But when Lance finally broke up with Amy, he found love with a strange girl named Llana who made him perform 7 labours in order to win her love. Both of them were sci-fi addicts so one of the labours involved collecting a peace of fallen meteorite. Lance then went on a radio quiz in order to win enough money for them both to go to a Star trek convention in the USA. They left for the USA after Lance helped Libby expose the radio quiz as a con to boost the stations ratings.
