John Day River Rafting Trip: What is it and where do we go? Peter Cramer------ -During invention week, the seventh grade will not be at school. Where are we you ask? We are going to the John Day River in Oregon. It is a 6-8 hour bus ride and we will be leaving on Sunday March 28. We will be returning on Friday April 2. Where is it? It is located in a canyon in Oregon. From our school you take all sorts of interstates and The John Day River roads you have never heard of like SW BIRCH ST. so basically just go southeast into NE Oregon and you’ll end up at John Day. What will we be doing there? Since this is a camping trip, obvisly we are going to camp. But we are going to do more than just camp we are going river rafting and fossil digging. The river rafting looks fun (see the picture) and the fossil digging sounds fun too. What is the John Day River campsite like? The river is close to the campsite. Also there is a bathroom. The temperature is mildly warm in the day and below freezing at night. Rattlesnakes live there but it is too early for them to come out. Also there are scorpions by the riverbed. Since it is located in a valley it has rock walls surrounding it.
