Pip Macfarlanewarmly welcomes youto Bala BarnBala barn is the owners residence in winter, and is holiday let in summer, making this a friendly homely place to stay for your holiday. Bala was once an old stone built piggery and animal house, since changed into a most unusual dwelling, with its ethnic design and interior. In keeping with the tradition, age and charm of the old farm, the kitchen has a natural slate floor, rustic wooden furniture, and a china sink. Also in the kitchen are a microwave/cooker, electric kettle, toaster, fridge and large cornish dresser filled with china and utensils. The oil fired rayburn stove keeps the barn warm in winter, or you may request it to be lit, we do charge £15 per week for the fuel. A basket of local eggs and a vase of garden flowers will be on the kitchen table to welcome you to Bala Barn for the start of your holiday. The lounge area is open plan, with sea grass carpeting, comfortable seating, cushions, solid wooden desk and chair with reading lamp. One step down from the lounge is the cozy double bedroom. The bathroom has a bath, shower, small china basin, and a washing machine for your convenience. Adjacent to the main door is the old dairy studio, which can be booked as a second bedroom, see details above. the rocky gardens are filled with herbs, shrubs, and flowers, a pond with waterfall, and grassy areas in which to sit and read or picnic, from here there are views of the sea and the rocky moorlands, and in summer shooting stars can always be seen. the gardens are now even more full of shrubs than when the original photo was taken, but this enhances the charm of the surroundings Penzance and St. Ives are both only ten minutes drive away and offer a large range of attractions, including excellent shopping, restaurants and large safe sandy beaches. In Zennor can be found the Tinners Arms ,a traditional miners pub also serving meals, the Old Chapel, which serves tea, cakes, meals and snacks all day, and a very unique private museum of local cornish history. The Gurnards head hotel, a short walk away is renowned for its good cuisine, splendid views from the gardens, and folk music. There are many ancient stone monuments in this area dating from before the bronze age, and wonderful walking on the national trust coastal footpaths. This unusual get away is available at Christmas and New Year, also from April to September. The cost is from £250 to £500 per week inclusive. On booking a non refundable deposit of £100 per each week booked, and an S.A.E. would be appreciated, with the balance due one month before the start of your holiday.
