Medieval stuff

I'm in love with the medieval/renaissance period. I'm in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) with my lovely persona from late period Germany, Sabine Grünewald (ok, admittedly, it's not a very well developed persona). Yes, I am Sabine (or Laura, or Worm, or whatever the hell you feel like calling me). Oh... by the way, Sabine is pronounced like Sabrina, but without the r. Here, at MIT, the SCA is pretty active... well... in Baaaaahstun in general. The Barony of Carolingia is a thriving Barony with plenty of events and lots of dancing and music. I've yet to meet any complete assholes here, and generally it's a fun place to be.

Among my many, many, many hobbies is the making of chain maille, chainmail, or simply mail. I've been doing this since my senior year in high school.

Here are a few things I've done...
A necklace I made for my dad's girlfriend. Sterling Silver. A bracelet I made for a friend. Sterling Silver A coif I'm making out of galvanized 14 gauge, 5/16" ID rings. European four in one. A six in one shirt I'm making out of galvanized 3/8" ID rings A copper choker with skull shaped bone beads and wooden beads.
This is the shirt after 4 more hours of intense labor in the hot sun while standing over an oven and cooking dinner barefoot in the kitchen. A choker I made using some of the beads dad sent me. Wire wrapped.

Not only do I do chainmaille...

...I also sew
My Elizabethan corset. Those are reeds shoved into those casings. Actual reeds. Let me tell you what a BITCH they were to put in! (thank you Marjorie and Godith!!!) These are the juggling balls I made the other day. My Lower Middle Class 16th Century German Garb. Soooooo many hours went into this dress. Don't ever ask how much work I put into this. Let's just say it's over 50 hours. WAAAAY over 50.
