Julie Benz's Biography
Julie started ice skating when she was 3 years old and competed until she was about 16. Through figure skating she was able to travel the world, meet new people and become even closer with her family. Both her brother, Jeff and her sister, Jennifer were skaters as well. Sometimes they all practiced and competed on the ice together. Julie experienced many things that she would not have if she was never a part of the sport. Skating helped her develop into the person she is now. When she talked about wanting to act her parents supported her.They told her it was important to study and go after it 100 percent. Julie applied to NYC. She was accepted and study several acting classes. During the summer when she was a junior in college she decided to take a trip to Moscow, Russia and study acting aboard. Out of the 13 people who went Julie was the only girl. Russia was going through a lot of financial trouble at the time and were kidnapping Americans and holding them for ransom. So she was a walking target. Because of this she couldn't go anywhere alone. Despite all of the hardship the soviet union was having Julie still had the best time of her life. She experienced the most wonderful acting training she has ever received. After graduating college she moved to LA in January of 1994. She had been living there for 2 weeks in a tiny apartment. One day at 4:30 in the morning an earthquake hit. She didn't know what it was. At first she thought a Mac truck her apartment building. The after shock soon kicked in and she realized it was an earthquake. She grabbed her stuffed bunny with no ears that she used to sleep with and ran out into the hall. A lot of people were also in the hall moving about. A women noticed Julie crying and asked how she was and where her parents were. When she replied that her parents were in Pittsburgh the women asked how old she was. Julie answered "21" and the lady said "Oh grow up".
