Anya's Biography
Anya was, about 1120 years ago, a girl; a girl who'd been dumped and was practicing vengeance spells on men. The demon D'Hoffryn got wind of her, and made her a vengeance demon. She carried out her duties for over a thousand years, known as Anyanka, the patron saint of scorned women. She found women who'd been hurt by a man and used a special necklace to grant their wishes. Usually, the wishes involved vengeance on the man who'd betrayed them. Anyanka came to Sunnydale to grant a wish for Cordelia after Xander had cheated on her with Willow, but instead of wishing something bad on Xander, Cordelia wished that Buffy Summers had never come to Sunnydale. Anyanka granted the wish, resulting in an alternate reality. Unfortunately for Anyanka, Giles smashed her necklace; bringing Sunnydale back to its normal reality, and leaving Anya stuck in the mortal body of a teenager. D'Hoffryn refused to give her, her powers back, and her attempt to use Willow to help her get her necklace back backfired, so Anya continued attending Sunnydale High School. Anya didn’t know what to do with all her human feelings and urges. She noticed Xander was pretty nice for a teenage boy and developed a crush on him. She asked him to the prom and he eventually accepted. Anya had a pretty good time with Xander and pursues him for more dates. He is opposed to it, but they begin to spend more and more time together. Mostly, they have really gratifying sex. Giles also hired her to work at his shop, the Magic Box, a job which she is very good at. She was engaged to be married to Xander, and she was happy. But, Xander left her at the alter. A heartbroken Anya then slept with Spike, which Xander saw due to a hidden camera planted in the Magic Box by Warren, Jonathan, and Andrew. D'Hoffryn offered Anya her powers back, and she accepted, becoming a vengeance demon again, though her heart isn't in it. After the few years that she had spent as a human effected her job as a vengeance demon and found she could no longer be the demon she once was. She was made human again and helped the Scoobies in any way which she could. Her relationship with Xander was repaired and after the battle it seemed the two would get back together. But sadly in that final battle Anya died saving Andrew's life. She was killed by a Bringer.
