Rose McGowan's biography

Rose McGowan was born on September 5, 1973 in Florence, Italy. Her mother was French and her father was Irish. Rose was the second eldest of six children and grew up in a commune for the "Children of God" cult. At the age of 9 Rose relocated to California, where Gregg Araki met her outside of a gym and cast her in his film, The Doom Generation, which became a cult classic. Rose also attended beauty and art schools in Seattle. Later, she went on to star in the critically-acclaimed horror/comedy Scream alongside Neve Campbell, and then in June 2001 the WB television network announced that McGowan would be playing the new sister Paige Halliwell, on the TV series "Charmed", filling the space vacanted by the departing Shannon Doherty.
