I have a new forum on Columbus Georgia on line. Please check it out when you can. People will be able to post topics and ask questions. I do a mystery picture for that site every Saturday http://www.columbusgeorgiaonline.com/index.htm

In this section I hope to post pictures of beautiful homes that are well known or not so well known.

WYNNWOOD For as long as I can remember Wynnwood was always the home of WDAK radio station. It is located on Buena Vista Rd in Columbus. I don't know what it is today, I hope it is not a private residence, I also hope I don't get in trouble for posting this if it is.

CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP ASSOCIATION (CFA) The CFA was located on Wynnton rd in Columbus. Back in the early and mid Seventies we went there every summer to swim. They had 2 large pools in the back for members. I remember they sold hot dogs from a small white stand off and on during the summer. I also remember the snack room right near the pools, the coke machine would shock you if you got too close. I also attended a wedding shower in the House, I remember it being so huge and beautiful.

MADDOX ANTIQUES

I wish my pictures had turned out better so you can really see the size of this house. It is truly awesome. This home is located right outside of Talbotton. It is owned by Mr. Maddox. For many years Mr. Maddox had an antiques store on Wynnton Rd. I remembered his store once he mentioned it.

STORY BOOK HOUSE

I fell in love with this house the first time I saw it. It reminds me of something from a children's story book. I think the roof is just great. This house is near Lake Bottom Park in Columbus. It is one of my favorite houses in town.

THE CEDARS

This beautiful home is located off Wynnton Rd in Columbus.

CARSON MCCULLARS HOME

THE GOETCHIUS HOUSE

The Goetchius House is a very nice and very well known restaurant here in Columbus. When I was a very little girl it was the office of Dr. Mercer Blanchard. I remember the huge X-ray machine they had. I also remember the Nurses Mary and Kathleen. I loved Dr. Blanchard and later Dr. Alvarez so much that I was in my tewnties when Dr. Alvarez suggested I might want to find a Grown up Doctor. I just did not want to leave him. The house was moved to Broadway from it's original location which was 11th St.

DR PEMBERTON'S COUNTRY HOME

I remember when this home was located off Hamilton Rd Near the old Red Roof. It has been moved to Broadway

WALKER PETERS LANGDON HOUSE

Another beautiful, historic home on Broadway.

WILDWOOD AREA

These are just a few of the beautiful homes in the Wildwood area of Columbus. This area is off Wynnton Rd and close to 2 beautiful area parks.

I do not know who lives here now, but at one time this home was owned by the Kirven family. The Kirven's owned a large local department store. One was downtown and the other was in the new addition to the old Columbus Square Mall.

MARTIN HOME

This home was owned by the Martin Family. The Martin's owned a chain of movie theaters. I had always heard there was a projection room and screen in this house to preview movies.

TRANQUILLA

This home sets back off the road and is beautiful. It is also in the Wildwood area.

SOME HOUSES DOWNTOWN AND IN THE HISTORIC DISTRICT

Columbus has so many styles of beautiful homes. These are some from Downtown and the Historic District. The third house is the old Profumo home. The Profumos had a store downtown in the early 1900's. I believe shaved ice was one of their specialties. The house was originally located on 4th Avenue or Veterans Parkway as it is called today.
