Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)
We start out on the Space Station Minos in the year 2127. The captain of the ship, using a robot, opens the puzzle box and summons Pinhead to a confined room for yet undetermined reasons. After summoning him, our captain Paul Merchant, gets arrested by a group of soldiers and detained. Thinking the man crazy, the “expert”, a female soldier named Rimmer is asked to interrogate Paul on his current state of mind. Paul tells her that they need to get off of the ship because he has summoned hell. To try and make her believe him, he tells her the story of the puzzle box. Phillip Merchant, a toy maker, was contracted by an aristocrat known to dabble in the black arts to construct a box for him. When complete, the box was handed over and made into what we all know and love as the “Lament Configuration”, a passage way between our realm and hell. Upon opening the gateway, the black artist summoned a demon for his bidding. This demon, named Angelique, hooks up with his apprentice, after some hot kinky banging sessions, kills the aristocrat and toymaker and then sets out to open the door way for hell to fully unleash itself on earth. Angelique has many replicas of the box made but has little luck opening the gate to hell. Finding out, 200 years later, that the toy makers bloodline wasn’t severed, she notices John Merchant, an architect in New York, has created a room that bares a striking resemblance to the puzzle box. In a scene of that raises more questions than worth examining, she lures a man to the basement with promises of a piece of her sweet ass, punches a pillar, grabs the box from inside, and summons Pinhead by making the man play with the box. John Merchant is working on the design, unbeknownst to him, to ultimately seal the passage to hell permanently when Angelique and Pinhead come and ruin his day. They get sucked back into hell by John’s wife and living doll/mute son. We are then brought full circle to the space station were we all began, to find out how Rimmer and Paul are gonna pull it all off.
