THE QUEST TO LIVE FOREVER (We do not have to die)
===========================================
(03/25/2000)
What the belief in religion provides to many persons is a way in which
to think or believe that they and their relatives will live forever and then
live together in a ‘heaven’.
However, that is really a naïve belief that can only really be ‘believed’
if one surrenders their innate ability to see and think in ‘real’ terms and
to see the world around them as it really exists. What that belief has
provided was a way in which the average uninformed person could
proceed on the natural quest to live in very good health forever, without
really having to put any real thoughtful work into it.
We, as a society though, have been working on this also on another
level - through science. We are always searching for cures for ailments,
and we suffer with various pains to various degrees and seek to rid
ourselves of those. We are always searching for ways to live longer and
in better health. To many people, on a subconscious level, this is an
admission that they really don’t believe that they can put their full faith
in their ‘belief’ that they will have an afterlife and live in a ‘heaven’
then. Many people today DO admit that such thoughts are really just
simply wishful thinking and that there really is no basis in reality for
such beliefs.
At this time, I would like to introduce some new ideas in this area.
Here are some real, practical and very workable ideas for accomplishing
these goals. And if we can accomplish these things on our own, without
a ‘god’ having any part in this; then what reason was there for believing
in a god in the first place? The realization becomes apparent. There is
not god, and if we want what we have been on a quest for, then we have
to make that for ourselves. And if it is really that important to us, then
we had better get started on it right now so that we may gain these
things while we are still alive… as when we die, it will be too late for
us to live on as we are.
As technology and science advances, we will probably find more and
better ways to achieve the things that will make it possible to either
replenish and prolong the youth of the bodies that we are born into
and/or to switch off into "new" bodies when our originals grow too
old. These bodies, as some have recognized, are only ‘vehicles’ and we
should start to think of them as such. We should focus in on these, our
bodily vehicles in terms of improvements and safety features in the
way that we currently think of when it comes to our other ‘motor
vehicles’.
The Manipulation of Cells and DNA:
===========================
One of the ways that we may be able to find a very viable way in which
to live forever would be in the manipulation of human cells and DNA.
With the advent of virtually synthetic and true synthetic cells that are
now being grown in the laboratory, it appears to be entirely possible to
replicate our physical ‘vehicles’ without actually cloning them; so that
we will have ‘backups’ in case of accidents and/or for the use of them
if/when needed at a future date. Now, these would not be individuals
in themselves as they were not ‘born’, but rather consist only of groups
of cells that only function as replacement parts. These would be
engineered for a specific purpose and in such a way that these ‘parts’
cannot at all be individuals in and of themselves, but rather only await
the use of those who ARE individuals. Those replacement ‘vehicles’
may be designed in such a way so as to be self-contained and may not
require a brain or brainstem, but only that which is required.
Perhaps someday we will be able to replicate our very brains so that
like computer disks, the information that we have acquired in our lives
will be preserved within out ‘back up’ brains and have those in case
the original becomes damaged or destroyed. I know that this is quite a
lot for some persons to conceive of, and that some at this point in time
may even think this to be ‘horrid’ ideas. But in truth, they are not.
We are not talking about some Nazi experiment, we are talking about
practical life extension possibilities; those things that we indeed are
entitled to pursue for the benefit and security of humanity itself. What
was outlined above is only one of several ways and things that may be
done. Many think in what I would call ‘simpler’ terms and put their
faith in things such as cryogenics - the literal ‘freezing’ of the body so
as to be put into a state suspended animation for the duration, only to
be ‘revived’ at a later date when our technology has advanced.
However, I happen to have the opinion that this is not a perfected
technology in the least and that it is not really a practical or viable
alternative at this point in time. The general concept may have some
merit, but I do not believe that the means by which cryogenics today
utilizes is really anything but extremely risky and/or impractical. There
are too many other more promising things to pursue regarding this
particular subject.
Again, with the technology that we have now to manufacture synthetic
skin (now in use for burn victims) and the ability to produce real human
cells that replace distinct body parts by manipulating the DNA code that
those cells have, it is really a true and real option for us to have ‘back up’
parts and possibly entire back up ‘vehicles’ (bodies) available to us
within the foreseeable future. Imagine what this would mean for those
who would find themselves in a position where they would otherwise
have to wait for a possible donor for a transplanted organ for instance.
When these things are perfected, then it suddenly becomes a reality
that we may indeed be able to virtually live forever - if we so chose.
Think of the ability to do brain transplants using micro-technology and
extreme precision techniques, as well as ultra-powerful cell growth
(regrowth) materials. These things are nearly within our grasp even now.
Besides what has been discussed above, there are still other ways in
which we may prolong our lives and live in better health for longer
periods of time. There is something that is called by myself as ACR,
which is Automatic Cell Regeneration. This would be like giving the
human body the ability to heal itself virtually ‘on demand’ when such
is needed. In the animal world, that would be like a lizard who has
lost a tail being able to regrow one. There are other examples of such
things in nature as well.
It is possible for us to learn from those other animals and use that
information in our own human bodies to accomplish the same things,
only in more and better ways. We can use this technology to help and
augment our existing immune systems and it would mean that we
would have the ability to regenerate and/or regrow cells automatically
that are damaged or would have ordinarily have ‘worn out’, such as
the heart muscle. Speaking of things ‘wearing out’, this brings up
another important thing (in my opinion) that I think that we should be
researching and looking to further.
A main reason why we grow old, get sick and die - Plaque:
=============================================
I had done research on this first back in 1974 and what I present here
regarding this subject is in large part from notes on this that I had made
back then. But over the course of years, I have also added to these notes.
People today are pre-occupied with many things, but when it comes to
thoughts of health, they generally tend to think in terms of those things
that are presented to them in the media rather than looking to their own
bodies for the answers to some things. If we listen to the media today
and the so-called experts on health, they tell us that the things that we
need to avoid are fat and cholesterol, and there is this long search for
cures for so many ailments and diseases of all kinds. There is such a
big mystery in the fight of cancer and of Aids, and so on. But the
answer to these things may actually lie in something as simple as
plaque. If not in full, then at least in part and here are some reasons
why.
Truth be known, it is probably the single most damaging thing to the
human body other than toxins that we may deliberately or accidentally
ingest ourselves. Plaque is what hastens and causes the hardening of
the arteries (and smaller blood vessels) and cuts off oxygen as well
as nutrition to our cells that is vital to them for reproduction and
survival.
No matter how well we brush our teeth, floss or brush our tongues
and otherwise clean our mouths in general, or how well we eat or
exercise - eventually, plaque will end up strangling our bodies from
within. That is, unless we work to find ways to eliminate it and keep
it from contaminating our bodies indefinitely, we will allow this
perpetual process to continue to slowly kill us and put us at a very
high risk of serious illness. What we should do in the meantime is
to look for ways to combat it more effectively.
Looking at plaque realistically, it has basically been able to mutate
uninterrupted, for virtually thousands of years. It is a parasitic
organism (not a natural part of our bodies) that exists in ‘group’
form, like a pasty blob that is really many individual organisms.
It is a sticky substance that is now able to exist in all parts of our
body and virtually permeates human bodies and those of other
animals as well to the greatest degree. The true effect of plaque is
that as long as we allow it to exist within our bodies - it will
eventually kill each one of us. There is virtually and most probably
literally, no living person that does not have plaque in parts of the
body at this time.
By its very function within our bodies, it does its part to destroy
and lessen our immune system and that both facilitates and hastens
illness and diseases of all varieties. It may well be that the very
cure for cancer may be found in the elimination of plaque from the
human body. What we have been causally taking as a ‘natural’
process of aging too, has at least in part, actually been what really
has been the ruthless attack upon our bodies from plaque.
With age and time, plaque takes hold of the body by wearing it
down. Again, it goes to all areas of the body and has a definite
effect upon our faculties as we grow older… it may concentrate
itself more in some areas than in others and that might be what
results in the outward symptoms that we see such as what we now
call ‘senility’ or maybe even ‘Alzheimer’s’. It is probably the
culprit that causes us to lose control over our bodily functions,
and so much more. We really need to dedicate ourselves to find
these things out and to do something about it.
There is a condition in many persons today that is called ‘fibro-
myalgia’. It may be that there are particular strains of ‘plaque’ that
tend to concentrate in certain areas of the body more than others
and that this is what effects persons and causes them to have
certain types of illnesses. In the case of ‘fibro’, it could be that
a certain type of plaque attacks certain ‘points’ or areas that have
to do with pain and the receptive areas dealing with pain and the
muscles. Again, plaque has had many thousands of years to mutate
and become resistant to all of our primitive efforts so far used to
combat it.
As we concentrate on this area, we may be able to eliminate plaque
from destroying and attacking our teeth, gums and arteries - and if
this simple thing is accomplished, it may well reveal that otherwise
our life expectancies would naturally be much longer and our overall
health during that time might truly be much greater than we have
known so far.
One thing that may be done is to enhance the natural ability of our
saliva to combat plaque. And another may be to increase (genetically?)
the body’s own ability to attack plaque throughout. But ultimately, we
really need to concentrate upon the eventual elimination of plaque so
that it becomes virtually extinct and no longer exists at all to cause
damage to any living animal.
The attack of plaque upon the human body has until now been thought
of very little. And we have watched our loved ones grow old and be
ravaged by it, not thinking in the least that this is really what was in
fact going on. We have taken it for granted and thought that what we
have seen as people grow old is a ‘natural’ process. But in fact, the
plaque builds up as it has a longer time in the body, and claims more
and more of it for itself until it claims the human life itself. But this
is NOT how it has to be, this process is only ‘natural’ to us because
this is all that we have ever known or seen.
Plaque gets passed on from generation to generation in the most
inconspicuous way, through the blood of the mother to the child. At
this point in time, it has a firm grasp upon all of our bodies from the
time that we are born until it eventually claims our very lives. Only
we can give ourselves the answers to these things and only we can
conquer death if we really wish to. And by now this should be very
clear to you that this is entirely possible and even probably within a
relatively short time from now. So now ask yourself, what good is a
god that cannot give us what we can give to ourselves? As a matter of
fact, trusting in a god to give you what you KNOW that you can have
here now anyway must seem quite foolhardy - especially when you
know that it does not make sense to die at all if you do not have to.
As for ‘heaven’, that too, is for us to create for ourselves while we
are still living. If we have ‘forever’, then such goals are not at all
impossible.
