Oboe Links

Random Oboe Links

  • Semplice Harbor School of Music--I highly recomend this if you're in the Wisconsin area and in high school. The folks who run this are some of the nicest people I've ever run into.
  • Music Evolution On Oboe--A fair amount of oboe mp3s.

  • About the Oboe and Bassoon
  • International Double Reed Society--You know 'em you love 'em... the famous International Double Reed Society.
  • Brian Moses' Double Reed Suppliers Index --Wow. A lot of plain old info here.
  • Wizards Double Reed Consort--Home of the double reed group Wizards!
  • Young Composers--While not necessarily an oboe link, check out the works of young composers across the world.
  • A Beginner's Encyclopedia of Playing the Oboe--The layout is kinda inefficient, but threre's a lot of useful information.
  • Ellistrations--An embroidery site with a musical flare... I wouldn't personally wear an oboe hat, part of being an oboist is maintaining an aloof coolness :), but what the hell, if someone sends me a link to their site I'll put it up.

    Commercial Links

  • Stellar Oboe Products--While "stellar" might be overdoing it, I'll let you decide for yourself. I've tried their oboe and english horn reeds and was pretty satisfied.
  • Oboe Products
  • Midwest Musical Imports--Good reedmaking kits as well as a variety of double reed instruments. You can order by e-mail.
  • Music Trader
  • Selmer Oboes--though you might want to avoid them...
  • Charles Double Reed
  • Covey Oboes--Need to buy something? You can probably find it here.
  • Amoris International--A nice place to buy sheet music or recordings.
  • Howarth of London--Lookin' to by a good quality insturment? This isn't a bad place to start.
  • Bill Roscoe Double Reeds--A fairly decent supplier. This site has some interesting "Test Kits" that you can buy.
  • Forrest's Music--Another MEGA site. You can buy anything from reed supplies to sheet music and recordings.
  • Allan Double Reeds--They carry my personal favorite store bought reeds, Marlin Lesher Pro's. Though they don't appear to be in business on the web anymore, I assume you can still purchase stuff from them.
  • Sheet Music Plus--Do you need sheet music? I'm betting you can find what you need here.
