The Stokens, originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin,
were first conceived in 1993 and consists of
five unique and multi-talented musicians.
Their music can be best described as an incredible
combination of groove, funk, metal, with a touch
of hip hop, soul, thrash, and disco but
anyone who has seen these guys in action
can describe them in one word only.... INTENSE!!!
Their style and originality has been steadily
propelling them upward.
In just five short years, they have recorded two
demos titled, "Contents" and "Shiverking" and
in 1995, they recorded their first full length album,
"Killjoy at the Junction" all under their
former name, Cradlewave.
In 1997, The Stokens recorded their second,
"Swig 180" which can be found at Sam Goody,
Musicland, and Best Buy stores throughout Wisconsin.
They have also headlined several shows throughout
Wisconsin and Illinois. They have performed
in major festivals and have won four
Battle of the Band Competitions.
A past CMJ report from WSNC ranked "Eyesore"
number ten on the top thirty list, topping
Marylin Manson, Sugar Ray, Live, and Faith No More.
The song, "Whisper" made a New Jersey radio
station's regular rotation due to audience response
and WAPL (the largest rock station in Northeastern
Wisconsin) played "The Mighty Webslinger" and
featured them on their Home Grown Show.
As for the latest news.......
The Stokens recently recorded their third album, Birthyear. You can find more information on purchasing the CD at the Stryker Records web site.
