As of April 10, 2000, I am now officially one year old!
I had helped celebrate other people's birthdays, but celebrating my own was much more fun. Mom and dad treated me even more special all day, but the real fun started when my dad got home from work the night before! He doesn't get home until after midnight, so it was already my birthday when I greeted him at the door as I always do. Mom had a black and white cake she said was a marble cake, but I had two pieces, and I didn't find any marbles... she might have just been kidding me, I'm not sure. We also had some fudge ripple ice cream, and I had a big scoop of that too! Chocolate is not good for dogs to eat, but it tastes delicious, and since I am a chocolate Lab, I'm already full of chocolate, so I get to have some sometimes. My cousins, Stanley and Brutus, eat chocolate all the time, but it's only because they find candy bars that they are not supposed to have, and they gobble them right down. Of course, I would never do such a thing... *puppy grins*
Anyway, back to my birthday.....I got a chewy toy that looked just like a hamburger... it squeaked until I poked a hole in it, but it never really tasted like a hamburger.

I chewed a big hole in it.

I don't know what happened to it after mom took it away, and said something about it only lasting 15 minutes, but I got some other presents too, and they lasted a little longer. Plush toys are my favorites. I have a hippopotamus, a pig, and one that looks like a person... well, it doesn't look so much like a person since I ripped the head off, and tore the stuffing out, but I still know which one to go get when mom tells me to go get my "people".

Birthdays are fun, even though mom says that after awhile, they aren't so much fun, and she would just as soon forget that they happened to her.
I'll pretend her birthdays are mine, then she won't grow any older....that will make her happy!

I have found a cake that I think I should have for my next birthday... it's all chocolate, it even comes with a chocolate looking frame... that's my kind of birthday cake!
