Here I Am Again...Finally

Well, it's been some time since I've brought you up to date on things.
It's Winter here...my second one, and believe me, it has been nothing like my first one! Last year, I thought it was uncomfortable to go outside and get my feet cold. This year, we've had snow so deep that I've gotten stuck in it, and in case no one ever told you, it's no fun getting your tummy all cold in a snow drift! Besides that, we have something we didn't have last Winter, and that's ICE!! Now ice is pretty tricky. The first day we had ice, mom kept saying, "Now be careful, Cody... It's icy!" when she took me outside in the morning. Well, being the silly dog I am, I thought I'd just run down the steps of the deck like always. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong... not the thing to do when there's ICE on the steps. The first few didn't bother me, but then.. then, it seemed like I had six more legs than I do, and they all got tangled up with each other. I fell down the last three steps. It kind of hurt, but I never say much when I fall down. Mom checked me over when I came in, and everything was ok. My next experience with ice was at night, so of course I couldn't see that it was icy. I hurried out the front door, because mom knew it was icy that night. She warned me again, but I slipped and fell right on my Lab backside! It was more embarrassing to me than anything else.. Now, I've finally learned when mom says it's icy... IT'S ICY, and I go outside carefully.
When the Winter started, both mom and I were glad to see the snow... and it's still pretty, make no mistake about that. But, mom says we've gotten to the point of too much of a good thing. I tend to agree with her on that one. Even though I'm the only one who has to go outside for purposes I won't describe here, my dad just plain hates snow, and mom says that next Winter maybe she'll like it again. Both mom and dad have to go outside to go to work every day, and I'm lucky because I can stay home in the house where it's nice and warm! I know it could be otherwise, because lots of dogs have had to be outside in the bad weather.
We've had fog this Winter too. Fog is kind of a funny thing! It kind of sneaks up on everything, being kind of unnoticeable at first, but before I know it, I look out the window and can't see a thing! Mom and dad both know that fog is dangerous, and since dad has to drive farther to work than mom does, she worries about him until he gets home at night after work.
I will close for now, hoping that pretty soon it will warm up so I can play frisbee again. Dad tried playing frisbee with me once this Winter, but it didn't work out well at all!
So, for now, if you live somewhere that's warm...be glad! Be very glad! And if you live in a cold climate like I do, here's how I'm trying to keep warm!
