I am building a 14' CANDU-EZ Mini-Tugboat. The purpose of my web page is to create a public project diary for our project.

• I have a real supportive wife who is helping me with this project.
• I'm not much of a carpenter. This is my second woodworking project, my first was a Toolbox stand.
• I've never used epoxy and fiberglass before.
• We don't have a lot of free time. We have small children so we only get couple of hours each evening and just slightly more than that on the weekends.
• We have a 30x40 shed that we're building the boat in.
• I've never shied away from anything mechanical.

  • Sabre Saw (I inherited if from my grandfather) - Use 16tpi Vermont/American blades
  • Stanley Sureform planes
  • Stanley Block plane
  • Pony 1/2" pipe clamps 18", 3', 4' pipes.
  • 9 3" C-Clamps
  • Medium size spring clamps
• Power Tools
  • Craftsman Pneumatic Brad Nailer - Shoots 5/8" through 2" 18 gauge brads
  • Coleman General Purpose Paint Sprayer
  • 5" Craftsman (Ryobi) Random Orbital SanderIt didn't survive the project. It was replaced with a more durable sander.
  • *3" X 21" Craftsman Belt Sander
  • *20 Gallon Farm and Fleet 1hp Air Compressor
  • Heat Gun - Softens epoxy for clean up on floors and benches.
  • 7 1/4" Skill Saw
  • 1 1/2 Hp Router
• Stationary Tools
  • *1950's DeWalt Radial Arm Saw
  • AMT 14" Bandsaw

Materials

• SystemThree Epoxy
• 4x8 Sheets of 1/2" Satin-ply plywood. Exterior plywood with an imported hardwood face.
• 4X8 Sheets of 1/4" Luan Plywood. Luan is normally used as underlayment for hardwood floors.
