Summary: Home again.
There’s a place for us,
Sitting here waiting for the sun.
And it calls me back to the safe arms that I know.
Powderfinger
Dom heard the door
open. He was too frightened to move.
Elijah saw him and
stopped, leaning against the sofa. Neither of them knew where to start. Then
Dom remembered Billy’s words, and spoke first.
“I slept with someone
else…a few months ago, while you were away.” He couldn’t look up, so he just
spoke to his own restless hands.
After an awkward,
silent minute, Elijah finally sat down, their arms just touching.
“I know.”
It took a moment to
sink in, then Dom turned and stared at him. “Wh-what? When?”
“I knew when I came
home and saw your face.” Elijah just shook his head and smiled. “I knew
straight away. I know exactly how I am when I come home, I’m very aware of it,
and you were acting exactly the same way. So I knew.” He sighed. “That’s one of
the things I’ve been mad about, Sblomie. I’ve never lied to you and I’ve never
kept anything from you, but you never told me about that. You thought I didn’t
know, and you kept it from me.”
Elijah was calm; the
smile never totally left his face. Dom swallowed and looked away, taking a deep
breath.
“I…I didn’t want to
hurt you.”
“It hurt more that you
didn’t tell me. That you felt you couldn’t tell me.”
“I’m sorry, Liji.”
“Yeah, me too.” He sighed.
“I should have listened to you,” he said simply, not looking up. “You were
right.”
Dom said nothing, just
took his hand and held it gently.
“I thought you’d left
me,” said Elijah softly. “I called three times and you weren’t here, and I
thought you’d gone.”
“No.”
“Freaked me out. I
started thinking…what I’d do if you weren’t here. Really thinking about it. I
don’t think I could handle it, Sblomie.”
They sat there in
silence, just holding hands.
“I’ve decided,” said
Dom at last. “I don’t care what you do as long as you tell me, and as long as
you come home.”
Elijah looked at him
and chewed his lip to stop it trembling. “I will.”
“And I’ve decided I
won’t leave til you ask me to.”
Elijah took a quick
breath, staring at Dom. “I won’t do that. I won’t ever do that.”
Dom kissed his cheek.
“Good. Then you’re stuck with me.”
Elijah pulled his hand
back from Dom’s and leaned forward, folding his arms and looking away so Dom
couldn’t see his face.
“But…I fuck up so
much. How many times are you going to let me off the hook?” He turned to face
Dom. “How many?”
Dom was staring at him
like he was insane. “As many as it takes, Liji.”
Elijah shook his head,
fighting back tears. Dom leaned close to him, his voice soft and fragile.
“I love you. I won’t
give up on us.”
Elijah stared at the
floor, his voice shaky. “I know I fuck up, but…I love you too, and I can’t
imagine loving anyone else.” He took a deep breath. “It’s like…you’re my home.”
Dom stared at him,
close to tears. He opened his mouth to speak but the confusion on Elijah’s face
stopped him.
“Why do you love me? I
don’t understand.”
Dom managed a smile.
“I can’t not love you. That’s just how it is.” He swallowed hard. “Why do you
love me?”
“Because you forgive
me…and because of…everything.”
Elijah curled over
with his face almost touching his knees. Dom got down on the floor at Elijah’s
feet, putting his head down on his knee, nudging Elijah’s hands. Elijah
whimpered softly and stroked Dom’s head, tears falling into his hair.
“Don’t leave
“I told you, you’re stuck with me.” Dom looked up, letting Elijah’s fingers
rest on his face. He reached up to wipe away Elijah’s tears. “Stuck with each
other,” he said shakily, managing a small laugh.
“Nobody else would put up with us,” replied Elijah. “Oh Sblomie...”
Dom crawled between his legs and Elijah hugged him tight, held him as he cried
against his chest, burying his face in his hair.
They found their way
up onto the sofa, lying in each other’s arms until it began to get dark.
“You know what we
need?” said Elijah, cheek resting against Dom’s head.
“What?” replied Dom
dreamily.
“We need a holiday.”
Dom propped himself up
on his elbow. “Well the movie comes out in a few months. We need to go before
the madness starts.”
“Where do you want to
go?”
“Dunno,” Dom
thoughtfully stroked Elijah’s stomach. “Somewhere no-one will find us. Where
no-one will even think to look for us.”
Elijah smiled, letting
his fingers brush Dom’s cheek. “Yeah.”
Dom kissed them. “I’ve
also decided I’m not going to cry anymore. This is who you are and as long as I
know you’ll always come home, I won’t cry and I won’t worry.”
Elijah’s lip trembled
and he tried to speak, but no words came.
Dom smiled and stroked
his face. “It’s okay. It’s allright. I’m just sick of crying.”
Elijah swallowed.
“Sblomie…I love you.”
Dom took a breath.
“Say that again,” he whispered, placing his fingers on Elijah’s lips.
Elijah closed his eyes
at Dom’s warm touch. “I love you.”
Dom replaced his
fingers with his own lips. “I love you,” he whispered, and kissed him slowly,
sucking gently at his mouth.
When they finished
they stared at each other, breathless.
“I’ve missed that,”
whispered Elijah.
“Me too.” Suddenly Dom
closed his eyes and looked away.
Elijah frowned. “What
is it?”
“All those times…we
just…I used you. Just used you.” He closed his eyes, ashamed.
Elijah stroked his
face and kissed him. “I did the same. Just…forget it. I don’t want to remember
that.”
“I must’ve hurt you so
many times.”
Elijah didn’t say
anything.
Dom opened his eyes.
“I did, didn’t I.”
“I know I hurt you
too. Just forget it, Sblomie. It’s gone, it’s past. Forget it.”
Elijah kissed him
again, wanting to take away the pain, wanting to give him everything. They
broke apart and Dom laid his head against Elijah’s chest, taking deep breaths,
calming himself down.
Then he sat up, taking
Elijah’s hands as he stood. “Come on.”
It had been so long
since they’d touched each other like this, so long since they’d even kissed. The
anger, the aggression, the pain was all gone. This was something beautiful and
they were still in the doorway, arms wrapped around each other, just standing
there. They’d made it that far and Elijah had turned and hugged him and they’d
both just held on, not wanting to stop. Wanting to exist forever like this.
They held each other in the darkness until their breathing found the same
rhythm, the way it had been until everything had come undone.
They both relaxed
their grip on each other enough to kiss again, deeper, longer. Not pushing each
other but letting it build all by itself, letting it take them in its own time.
They finally removed
their clothes and found their way into bed, their bodies warming the cool
sheets, sliding together, fitting together perfectly. Their fingers explored
every part anew, every curve of muscle and bone. Nothing was left untouched.
Dom’s tongue found
it’s old familiar path over Elijah’s body, slowly tracing the lines of muscles
and tendons from his neck downwards. A warm, wet mouth followed, moistening and
teasing Elijah’s skin. Elijah moaned softly, hands roaming Dom’s back and
shoulders and up into his hair. Every touch of Dom’s mouth lingered on his
skin, leaving cool wet marks on his body. He could have mapped them out, every
last one.
Dom coaxed him with
light touches and kisses. The closer Dom came to his cock the more restless
Elijah became, pushing up with his hips, whimpering. He wanted Dom’s mouth on
his cock, but then he didn’t. He ached and yearned for it, but part of him said
no, not yet. Too soon.
Dom knew, he always
knew. His mouth explored around and near, but never touched. Close, but not
quite. Then Elijah groaned as Dom ran his tongue quickly up over his stomach
and chest. He thrust his hands into Dom’s hair and drank deeply from his mouth,
pushing him onto his back, still kissing him, his fingers unthinkingly seeking
out their favourite places on Dom’s body.
Dom tried to stay calm
but the brush of fingertips and gentle stroke of Elijah’s tongue raised him
higher and higher, his skin tingling with the echo of each touch. He felt he
was being overwhelmed, relishing every caress and the hot press of Elijah’s
body against his.
He slid down and let
Elijah straddle his shoulders. Elijah groaned and almost fell as Dom began
lovingly sucking his balls. He grasped the bedhead, rocking back and forth in
time with Dom’s steady rhythm. Then he pushed Dom’s head down and slipped his
cock into his mouth.
And then he remembered
how long it had been since they’d done this. Since he’d felt that wonderful,
soft, wet mouth sucking him, tasting him, drawing pleasure out of him. He
stared down at Dom, watching him. Dom’s eyes were closed, his face peaceful.
Elijah wanted to cry.
“Dom…” Elijah whimpered
softly, fighting back a wave of emotion. “Oh…Dom…Sblomie…oh god…” He let his
head fall back, squeezing his eyes shut, determined to keep the tears back for
now. Dom’s sucking only increased, drawing him in deeper, taking him closer to
losing it.
He groaned and
withdrew from Dom’s mouth, sliding down to sit across his thighs, kissing and
sucking his way down Dom’s chest and stomach, each touch bringing a gasp, a
soft whimper. Dom’s hands caressed him, encouraging him on his steady path
down.
Dom shuddered as his
cock brushed Elijah’s cheek. He felt Elijah turn his head and moaned as those
soft warm lips caressed him, his voice a desperate whisper as Elijah’s mouth
got closer and closer to the tip of his cock.
“Liji…Liji…oh…oh
please…oh please...” and he opened his mouth in a silent cry as Elijah took him
in, sucking him in deep. He let his hands fall to his sides, clenching handfuls
of the sheet as Elijah’s gentle mouth slowly sucked him and slender fingers
entered him, sliding in easily, deeply, stroking him inside with the same
steady rhythm.
He didn’t think he
could last, though he wanted to. He didn’t want it to ever end. Just when he
thought he couldn’t take anymore Elijah stopped and sat up, crawling up and
straddling him and kissing him again, and he realised he didn’t want this to
end either. He wanted every touch to last forever.
It always amazed him
how time passed like this, how they could lose themselves in each other so much
that hours and hours would pass. The world could fucking end and they wouldn’t
care as long as they were together. He’d never experienced this with anyone
else, and he didn’t want to. There was no-one else in his world right now.
Elijah stopped and
gazed down at him, blue eyes glinting dark in the moonlight. “I want you inside
me,” he breathed. “Now.”
He reached down to
stroke and massage Elijah, making him ready. Elijah closed his eyes, moving his
hips against Dom’s fingers, whimpering softly. It didn’t take much and then he
was kissing Dom again, crying desperately into his mouth as he sank slowly onto
his cock.
He sat up, eyes
blissfully closed, riding Dom with deep, shuddering breaths. Then he opened his
eyes and looked down, and Dom stared up at him and gasped.
“You’re beautiful.”
“Dom,” Elijah
whispered softly, leaning down. “Hold me…”
Dom wrapped his arms
around him, holding him tight. Elijah clenched his fists, choking back sobs as
he pushed down harder and harder with his hips, desperate for more. He took
Dom’s face in his hands and kissed him again, and Dom couldn’t hold back any
longer.
They spent the entire
night taking turns with each other, in each other, snatching a little sleep
in-between. By dawn they were both exhausted but neither wanted to stop giving.
Elijah’s eyes were glazed but this time it was sunlight on his face as Dom
looked up at him. He was breathless, dumbstruck, at the sight of Elijah’s face
above him, and their eyes locked as Elijah slid into him and filled him
again.
They finally went to
sleep for a few hours, waking tired and hungry, but happy.
“Let’s go and have
breakfast,” said Elijah.
Dom smiled at him.
“Yeah.”
An hour later they
were sitting in a café, and Dom was pensive. He scowled at his coffee, sighing
now and then. Elijah smiled at him, watching him.
“What is it, Sblomie?
What’s up?”
“Hmm,” he scowled more
and took a sip of his coffee. “I just wonder if I should call Viggo.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. Just to make
sure he’s okay. He’s…I just don’t want there to be any…you know, any…problem.
Between us. I just want to make sure we’re all okay with each other now.”
Elijah smiled and
reached across, giving Dom’s forearm a quick squeeze and a pat.
Dom narrowed his
eyes. “What?”
Elijah shook his head,
going back to his eggs with a smile. “Nothing.”
The phone rang, and as
usual he didn’t want to answer it. Still, he listened when the answering
machine began, just to see who it was.
“Hi Viggo, it’s Dom,
um…look, I just wanted to…you know, have a chat with you, make sure
everything’s okay and stuff. Um…well we’ll be home this arvo, so if you want to
call-”
Viggo picked up. “Hi
Dom.”
“Oh, I didn’t realise
you were there.”
“Just wasn’t sure if I
wanted to talk to anyone or not.”
“Oh.”
“No, it’s not that,
I’m just in the middle of something, that’s all.”
“Oh, okay. Um…are you
okay?”
Viggo forced a smile
into his voice. Sure I’m okay, he
thought. I did all my crying yesterday.
“Yeah, Dommie,” he
sighed. “I’m okay. What about you? How are you two?”
“We’re okay. I
think…we talked a bit yesterday when he got home and I think we’re actually
getting somewhere. I think we’re out of that loop we were stuck in. We’ll, you
know, we’ll keep working at it.”
“That’s good. I’m
glad.”
Silence.
“Well, I guess…um…”
Dom faltered, not sure how to finish without sounding rude.
“I’m sorry,” said
Viggo quickly. “I am. You know…you both mean a lot to me, I would never
knowingly hurt either of you. Ever.”
“I know. It’s okay,
it’s not your fault.”
“Okay, then.”
“Um, I guess we’ll see
you when you come back to LA next, whenever that is.”
“End of next month.
We’ll catch up then, maybe have a beer or two.”
Dom smiled. “It’s a
deal.”
“Okay, talk to you
then.”
“Bye Viggo.”
He’d just hung up when
it rang again. Fuck it, I’m standing
right here, might as well.
He picked it up.
“Hello?”
“Oh…Viggo?”
“Yeah.”
“It’s Orli. I was
expecting the answering machine, so you caught me by surprise. How are you?”
“Good, how are you?”
“Great, fine, fine.
Uh…so, everything okay up there? I just…I was talking to Billy. I know Elijah
paid you a visit.”
Oh.
“Yeah, he did. He’s back home now.”
“Yeah, I know. That’s
why I called, just to see…you know…how you’re doing.”
Viggo smiled. “I’m
allright. I am. I’m, uh, just doing some painting at the moment. Got the place
to myself, Henry comes home in a few days.”
“Oh right,
so…everything’s okay then.”
“Yes.”
“Well…I just wanted to
make sure. Just to…let you know I was thinking of you.”
His smile got bigger. “Thank
you. It means a lot Orli, it really does. Thank you for thinking of me.”
“When you coming back
to LA?”
“End of the month.”
“I’ll catch up with
you then? Maybe we could have dinner?”
“That would be nice.”
“Yeah?”
He laughed. “Yes of
course! I’d love to.”
He knew Orli was
smiling too. “Great. Can’t wait. Call me when you’re here and we’ll make a
date.”
“Okay, I will.”
“Okay. Well, uh…bye
Viggo. Hear you soon.”
“Bye Orli.”
He hung up, letting
his hand rest on the phone for a moment. Then he turned and walked back into
his painting room, his sanctuary, and looked at the canvas on the floor.
He just couldn’t get
the goofy grin off his face, it refused to leave. He felt so much better than
he had earlier in the day.
“How do you do that, Orli?”
he murmured, studying the canvas.
He laughed out loud,
then knelt down and got back to work.
