Welcome to Charms class! My name is Professor Rose. Below you will find samples of the lessons I taught here at Veritas HP.
Requirements for this class included that students bring their wands, completed their homework assignments and remembered to have fun.
Lesson Seven:
Hello class! Today we will be covering a specific freezing charm used on Cornish Pixies. Cornish Pixies as you all know are native to Cornwall. They are mischievous and very rude creatures, but very easy to spot as they are bright electric blue in color. Professor Lockhart attempts to use this charm to freeze the pixies when he sets them loose all over his class. During his class it seems that Lockhart is making this spell up on the spot, but Hermione comes to the rescue performing the same spell successfully. To perform this spell you point your wand at the area where the pixies are and shout “Peskipiksi Pesternomi” It is pronounced (pes-kee PIK-see pes-ter-NO-mee). Watch as I let one Cornish Pixie lose and demonstrate the spell.

Lesson Six:
In today’s lesson we will be learning about the Fidelius Charm. This is a complex and powerful charm that hides a person or persons completely; their location is known only to their designated "Secret Keeper." Used to try to protect Lily and James Potter from Voldemort. "An immensely complex spell involving the magical concealment of a secret inside a single, living soul. The information is hidden inside the chosen person, or Secret-Keeper, and is henceforth impossible to find -- unless, of course, the Secret-Keeper chooses to divulge it. As long as the Secret-Keeper refused to speak, You-Know-Who could search the village where Lily and James were staying for years and never find them, not even if he had his nose pressed against their sitting room window!" Unfortunately, Peter Pettigrew was chosen as Secret-Keeper, and he betrayed James and Lily. Fidelius is pronounced fih-DAY-lee-us. In Latin “fidelis” means trusty and/or faithful. Dumbledore used the Fidelius Charm to hide Number 12 Grimmauld Place, the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. He himself is the Secret Keeper for the Order.

Lesson Five:
Hello class and welcome to the start of a new school year. In today’s lesson we will be learning Impedimenta a spell used to slow down attackers or objects coming at you. Ancient wizards and witches created this spell to slow fast moving animals so they could kill them for food. As the ages passed by and the sport of wizard dueling come about this spell was soon to be used by the magical world to slow opponents in duels. Today this spell is used often in the catching of dark witches or wizards and to prevent any accidents from occurring near muggle eyes. In Latin “Impedio” means, “to hinder.” To perform this spell all you need to do is aim your wand at the object you want to slow down and say “Impedimenta.” You can all practice on the pixies in that cage over by my desk.
